Thoughts? If it's a boy

I love it for girl. It's a very popular girls name in North America. Originated as a boys name though.

IsadoraQuagmire · 10/07/2015 12:01

Bella Thorne's middle name.

Another vote for the meat scales in every supermarket with a deli counter.

Quasilulu · 10/07/2015 02:12

Avery = birdcage
Aubrey the Strawberry.

mathanxiety · 10/07/2015 02:08

I think of it as a very old money New England or Washington sort of name for a man.

FraggleHair · 09/07/2015 22:06

Love that vivid little scene you've painted Rose! Grin

I bet she still mourns that lost kebab.

mrstweefromtweesville · 09/07/2015 21:59

Avery office supplies.
Oh my. I'd hate to drop my kebab.

The only Avery I know became known as unsavoury Avery for having sex behind a chippy with a girl who complained he was so vigorous, she dropped her kebab.

villainousbroodmare · 09/07/2015 19:38

In fact, I love it.

toffeeboffin · 09/07/2015 19:36

Love it for a girl.

mrsleomcgary · 09/07/2015 19:35

I love it and it's high on my list of potential boys names. Hubby not so keen but hoping I can talk him round since he chose DDs name.

Fugghetaboutit · 09/07/2015 19:32

One person liked it! It reminds me of stuff like that too

I like it. It's the name of Fern's brother in Charlotte's Web so it makes me think of hay barns and county fairs and rope swings and candy floss and sunny afternoons and dusty bare tanned legs and generally lovely things.

mrssmith79 · 09/07/2015 17:01

The only Avery I know of is a female character in 30 Rock, Avery Jessup.

RiverTam · 09/07/2015 16:54

yep, me too.

BothEndsBurning · 09/07/2015 15:12

I've only just 'got' the bird reference. Aviary. It didn't occur to me at all!

sweetpeame · 09/07/2015 15:11

Don't like it. Reminds me also of birds and also sounds like something an American girl would be called (not good either IMO).

GinUpGirl · 09/07/2015 14:49

I dislike it and think birds too, and would definitely think Avery was a girl. Very American too, which I dislike.

Although this search brings up more male Averys.

WankerDeAsalWipe · 09/07/2015 14:34

I like it but would assume it was a girl.

barbecue · 09/07/2015 13:52

Stationery brand.

TempsPerdu · 09/07/2015 11:40

Just makes me think of birds (caged ones, so not a nice association!). Doesn't feel like a name at all to me, but if anything it seems a bit feminine. Don't like Aubrey either.

FraggleHair · 09/07/2015 11:33

Reminds me of Avery labels, but only because I spent a good thirty minutes yesterday swearing at the printer when trying to do a mail merge.

BeautifulBatman · 09/07/2015 10:15

Bird cage or the bloke out of Nashville. Not great.

MrsLeighHalfpenny · 09/07/2015 10:14

Scales. Don't do it!
