How inconvenient is it to have two middle names?

Hi ladies

I'm due my first child on Friday. DH and I have decided on a first name and DH has 90% agreed to having my brother's name as a middle name (my niece has my name as middle name and I'd like to return the tradition.) DH would like to add a second middle name, I'm happy enough with the name choice but concerned about it being inconvenient on forms etc to have a second middle name. Any thoughts?

DS' full name has 28 letters and there are some forms which have to be filled in without the spaces between the names, but really it isn't a major problem. He has a longish first name, a shortish second name and then my maiden name and our surname. I don't regret using any of the names.
I suppose if all the names were long it would be a problem.

Honestly as long as it's not something stupidly long then it will be fine.

DS has two middle names, so far so good! Mind you neither are very long.

My boys have two middle names, no issues. Sometimes there's not enough room on forms so I only use one.

Talking about the NHS not being great with two middle names, my records are under the name of 'firstname middle1 middle2 middle2 surname'. No idea how that happened!

I have two and it has never been an issue at all. I really love it actually :) My DCs both have two as well and seem happy enough with it. No inconvenience at all tbh except for the occasionaly form where I have to leave one of them off - no big deal at all.

I have two - a regular name and a family surname.

The only time I've ever had problems were when officials assumed the family name was my maiden name. I've had them insist that it was and no amount of my telling them that it was not made any difference. It wasn't important, but it was rather annoying.

I have my grandmothers' names as my two middle names. Form filling etc has always been fine - my only problem was hating the old fashioned names themselves. Nowadays they're back in vogue!

Well, I had 2 middle firstnames and a middle last name, and I hated it so much that I eventually changed my name and now I have my firstname, my middle last name and my husbands last name. My parents gave me to "spare names" in case I didn't like my first name because it's rare and hard to pronounce. And they gave me both their last names because they were not married.

As long as the middle names don't have 3 or more syllables like mine I think it will be fine.

My first DS has two middle names and my second DS had three. Can't say it's ever caused a problem.

I love having two middle names. It's caused a problem, mine rarely fit on forms (they're both very long) so I just leave one out or squeeze the last few letters on the end. Never been an issue and it gives me choice over which name I use

One of my dc has a hyphenated mide name, one has one and the other two have two middle names. Dh has 3. Only time it's a problem is when dh runs out of space for all his names.

I gave my son two middle names and it has been fine so far.

A previous poster mentioned that the NHS can't handle it. I've actually found that not to be consistently true - sometimes both of his names are included in his letters and other time they drop one... Seems very random but doesn't really bother me (so far at least!).

I have two middle names, so do my children.
The forms aren't too bad really, I only went through a few periods of disliking having such a long name during exams as they never make the box big enough!

My ds has two. He likes them.
He also has a hyphenated surname.

He says we should have given him more names!
Never been a problem for him.

Dd on the other hand, has a welsh middle name.
How do you spell that?
How do you say that?
Why did you chose that?...

Glad she didn't get two!

For 99% of most peoples' lives, they never use their middle name(s) so I can't see how it would be inconvenient. Ok there may be one occasion per year where they need to write their middle names on a form but that's about it! I very often don't even list my middle name unless it's for something like a passport application.

I have two middle names, as do my DCs. So far, the only impact it has had on my life is that my bank card only shows my first middle initial, which is no problem in any shape or form.

My ds has 3 middle names and he thinks it's really cool. The bank can't cope with all his initials but other than that it's never been an issue.

I know a child with two middle names and a double barrelled surname! What's crazy is that both of her siblings have the same arrangement as well!
