Grr.. That really.
Ds1 is due today and after 9 months of stewing over a name for him ( feel like all the ones I love are spoken for by friends and family's kids) my brother in law has just named his puppy Ted. I could cry. Especially as he named his son Rex which to me is a better dog name..
We had decided a few days ago on Ted Sidney E... But feel that we can't use it now.
Any other Ted-like names we might like? Middle name is Sidney and surname begins with an E.

I would go ahead with your plans. It's not like he is going to get offended! Just make a joke out if it.

Ty, Sed (sedrick) Jed, Seb,

Did he know you were about to name your child Ted and he used it first, or is it an unfortunate coincidence?

Stoppissingonthefloor · 06/07/2015 14:24

Really don't like the long versions of Ted, plus our surname begins with an e so would sound silly. I really don't get having a long by name if it'll never be used? Plus if he does like Ted he could drop the t and be Ed.
God It's not even a nice dog, wee nippy jack Russell..

Make it Edmund, Edwin or Edgar (further options are available). You can still call him Ted, but there will be more choice.

knickernicker · 06/07/2015 14:06

It doesn't matter if you go for Ted. Just do it.

ApocalypseNowt · 06/07/2015 14:06

What about Theodore? You can nickname that Theo or Ted?

Are you looking for a short name in particular? Ben? Sam? Todd? Dom?

Think Dominic Sidney sounds quite nice actually. Hope you find something you like Smile

Or still go for Ted?? It's only a dog, it can't cause too much confusion.

GilbertBlytheWouldGetIt · 06/07/2015 14:05

Alternatively, Theo.

GilbertBlytheWouldGetIt · 06/07/2015 14:04

Can't you have a word with him and ask him to choose something else?

Mypubesarestraight · 06/07/2015 14:04

Eddie?
