What do you think when you hear the name Milo?

And yes, I'm expecting a few 'it's a dog' responses!

Just wondering what you all think of it? Considering it for DC2 arriving in a couple of weeks, DS1 has a 'grandad' type name.

Thanks!

murphys · 08/07/2015 11:36

Oh I really do feel like a nice warm mug of Milo now.....

Poofus · 08/07/2015 11:35

Venus de.

FraggleHair · 08/07/2015 11:35

Arlo is 2015's Milo.

Milo: The Next Generation.

FraggleHair · 08/07/2015 11:31

Definitely a faddy name.

bodenbiscuit · 08/07/2015 10:38

Tweenies. It's a cute name though.

Ficidy · 08/07/2015 10:37

I really don't understand how it's faddy. It's a classic name that's been around for a long time. It is not a derivation of Miles - it is a name in its own right. In Ireland, in 2013 (the year of my son's birth) there were only just over 36 Milos registered - as opposed to 764 Jacks. I know that I certainly would prefer my son to be the only Milo in the class, rather than one of 4 Jacks!

BothEndsBurning · 08/07/2015 09:20

That it's very current and faddy, and will date.

I don't dislike the name at all, but I would not give it now. I might choose Miles instead. Miles seems less "trendy" and is timeless, and you can still have Milo as a nn.

Having said that, there's no way of knowing if Miles will take off in a faddy way, but this is always a risk!

Skittles88 · 08/07/2015 05:32

A chocolate milk drink, then the movie Milo and Otis

familysizepack · 08/07/2015 04:41

Change the channel ... The Tweenies is on. :(

StupidBloodyKindle · 08/07/2015 00:55

the least annoying tweenie
bella was a bossy bitch
fizz was a girlie fusspot diva
jake was a learned helplessness whinger
milo was at his worst loud but by far the best out the four

WhyTheDrama · 08/07/2015 00:35

I would just think that it's a nice normal boys name.

I wouldn't know about the Tweenies link and I don't think of it as a dogs name.

Not that I mind dogs name for kids, in fact both of my DS's are named after actual dogs. One was my Aunts and one my neighbours.

BackforGood · 07/07/2015 23:33

Tweenies

LeChatRouge · 07/07/2015 23:18

My 21 year old is called Milo and I still love it. Well before the Tweenies came along. When he was born one of the doctors was South African and when I said his name the guy said 'that's a chocolate drink where I am from', but I didn't care.
Interesting what you said wintersprinter as he would much rather be called Milo than Ben or Jack (perfectly good names) of which there were plenty in his year group. I call him Misey or Meeloss as a nickname like the Greek island Grin.

Ficidy · 07/07/2015 22:34

It's my 2 year old son's name and I couldn't care less if it's a chocolate drink on the other side of the world. I'm Irish and we have Barry's Tea here and I'm pretty sure there are a lot more Barrys in the world than there are Milos and sharing the same name as a teabag hasn't had a detrimental affect on any of them!

I really do think it's an amazing name. It's not faddy or posh. There have been a few famous Milos out there too - eg Milo O'Shea, the talented Irish actor who passed away a couple of years ago.

Everyone comments that they love our sons name and the odd few who don't are the ones who would name their boys James or Daniel or Stephen - not to my taste in the slightest.

dimdommilpot · 05/07/2015 23:37

1 of my cats.

susurration · 04/07/2015 19:55

Tweenies!

What about Miles instead?

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 04/07/2015 18:36

It is and will always be a chocolate milk drink to me "it's marvellous what milo can do for you... Ole Malaysia" was an advert I still can sing 25 years after first hearing it. I find it comparable to naming your child nesquik.

In the U.K. though it's definitely a boys name. And I wouldn't really bat an eyelid.

honeysuckleclimber · 04/07/2015 18:31

My cat. But I love it and wish I hadn't wasted such an awesome name on a cat as now I'll never be able to useit Sad

lolalotta · 04/07/2015 18:25

I don't like it.

nowttodowithme · 04/07/2015 18:24

My gorgeous Siamese cat Milo, I really miss him!

MehsMum · 04/07/2015 18:18

A milk drink.

financialwizard · 04/07/2015 18:11

I love the name Milo, and would not automatically assume 'tweenies' or dog.

Wintersprinter · 04/07/2015 17:59

Faddy not daddy!

Wintersprinter · 04/07/2015 17:59

I am sorry but I would think middle class, trying hard to be cool, daddy despite it actually sounding quite nice. Not sure a 22 year old Milo would prefer his name to say something like Ben or Jack. He would probably tell you he wished he had been called something else.
