I really like this name.
What are your opinions and have you ever met a Bonnie?

Yes it makes me think of the Blue Peter dog. I think she was the one who came after Goldie.

It's an okay name but seems a bit nothingy.

There was a Blue Peter dog called Bonnie, maybe that's what has embedded it into dog owners' psyche!

I'm not mad keen on it, to me it feels a bit precious, but that might the Langford connection.

Used as a euphemism for 'plump' where I'm from. Eg 'what a bonny child!'

MuddyWellyNelly- I live in the South West so no connection to the name Bonnie down here.
5MadThings- I have never heard of Merryn before, it sounds like a very happy name to me.

My other four are all boy, Theodore (theo), Oscar reopen, Dylan lucas and rudi arlo. We really struggled with girls names, bur love Merryn and so far haven't net another.

Bonnie Blue Butler had a 'proper' name too. Eugenia Victoria or such like. Wink

I don't think it's great, and I immediately scanned for mention of dogs and was not disappointed. I only know canines called Bonnie too.

I wouldn't use it as I'm in Scotland and Bonnie is used everywhere to mean pretty/beautiful, as has been mentioned. It's a film and a slogan "bonnie Scotland", and in songs "the bonnie bonnie banks of Loch Lomond". Particularly if you are from the north east, things are known as "affa bonnie". So if you and your children are likely to spend much time up here I'd say no, but otherwise it's fine.

I think Bonnie Hunt (actress) before say Bonnie and Clyde or GWTW.

nooka- I agree that connie and connor and too similar sounding and i don't like the nn con either (sisters partner might get funny as well). I know boy Ronnie's and not keen on Veronica.

I think the thread has received fairly good compliments, and I am not worried about the dog references (i've heard my name and Tilly's names for dogs!).

I have an adult friend Bonnie. She's not particularly attractive looking and I've never really given it a second thought. I also know a Constance (through work and she was never a Connie there) and she did live up to her name, in fact she was quite formidable.

I'd not choose Connie with a Con in the family and two 'C' initials already. The only other 'onnie' I can think of is Ronnie from Veronica.

I know a little girl bonnie, it's a lovely name.

Reminds me of gone with Thr wind thought rather then bonnie and Clyde but that didn't end well either.

Love it, it was on our list, I know two adult bunnies, and a teen bonnie. Also know a toddler called Connie.

If we ever have another it will be on our name list again, we went with Merryn instead but still love bonnie.

I knew a Labrador Bonnie in the 80's. I think it's a very sweet girls name and goes well with Tilly.

The only 'Bonnie's I know are dogs. Not a good choice for a child IMO.

I have a 4 year old Bonnie. Name seems to suit her! Everyone seems to compliment her name (to my face anyway), and I don't know of any other Bonnie's.

Nickname we use is Boo.

Have no regrets about her name - love it.

I love Bonnie. It reminds me of Bonnie Blue Butler, Scarlett and Rhett's daughter in Gone With The Wind.

Tilly was named after OH dog; Poor child I know, but I just loved the name :) I am not worried about Bonnie or Connie being associated with dogs :)
I have met 2 Connie's, one is 29 and the other is 2 (at the preschool where I work). I slightly prefer Bonnie I think.
