Ruby

Rose/Rosie
Beryl (older, but old names are trendy? Beryl is a green, shiny stone, I think)

Heidi is lovely but we are trying to avoid names beginning with 'H' as my mum struggles to pronounce her H's

I just wanted to say that I am also a geologist and LOVE the name Amber. If we were ever lucky enough to have 2 DDs they would be Amber & Heidi.

Amber was always going to be Imogen then last minute changed to Amber just because I fell in love with the name straight away. I like names that aren't too common but are safe. I really like Eliza but OH really isn't keen.

I think we need more of a steer of what you like. Why did you choose Amber? Do you want something common or more unusual? Another nature name?

momtothree · 23/06/2015 20:57

Chystal? Fern? Maple?

Still struggling :( loads of lovely names being suggested with a number of them being on our short lists but none that I really love and could imagine calling my daughter.

A few weeks ago a thought ran through what passes for my mind - if you had three girls called Ruby, Amber and Jade you'd have a set of human traffic lights.

I like Amber as a name (and a precious stone), and personally I wouldn't flinch from another geological name to go with it. Themed names can be great. I knew a family whose three girls were May, Hazel and Rowan, which I thought was lovely.

Sylvia Winnie
Stella Winnie
Louella Winnie
Marcia Winnie
Margo Winnie (or Margot Winnie)
Margaret Winnie
Meredith Winnie
Iris Winnie
Lois Winnie
