James will always be a popular name. I'm sure it's been top 10 forever.

I have a James and luckily he is the only in his year. There is one in class below, then lots of Jamies throughout the school, as well as another James in our social circle. If it bothers you that you will hear the name lots at soft play, the park etc. then don't choose it! Would I still choose it? Yes! Because I love it but the trade off is it's a name you have to share! My James is 6.

I have a James who is almost 12. He's never been in a class, (or school for that matter!), beaver cub or scout group etc. with another James. We do know one other who is 6yo.

a girl?! wow.

I only know 3 all over 18.
id like to use it if we have a boy as its mt fathers middle name abd brothers name but will need to convince my mom first.
she hates our first choice (ted) so she may give in.

Why oh why would anybody call a baby girl James?

James is a really terrific name for a boy. It will never date. It has no bad associations drowing out every other association. Everybody can spell it and everybody can pronounce it. There are a couple of decent nicknames from it. It was my top choice for our son but my husband wasn't keen. We compromised on another classic boys' name with similar qualities and have never regretted it.

It's starting to become more popular. Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds have just called their baby girl James.
