I have one of my own (he's 18). My nephew is James, a brother is James, and I have probably 8-10 adult friends called James. Know 4 Jamies who are between 8 & 12, and one adult Jamie.

One James (aged 7) is in youngest DC's class, but afaik he's the only one in the school (Prep).

I'm obviously biased, but I have always loved the name and still do now as much as ever.

Despite it being a top 10 name I rarely come across any. And I do notice them as I have one myself. Mine is the only one in his whole school.

I have one, he is 18 now. There has always been the odd one here and there throughout his life but not loads. He likes his name thankfully and I have always loved it

James has been in, or just outside, the top 10 boys names for at least 100 years. A great classic boys name that won't date a child. Terrible name for a girl though.

It's very popular where I live. I know loads of James's ranging in age from a few months old to men in their 80's. There's 3 or 4 in my DC's nursery alone.

They are 2, 7, 29, 42, 56 and one is dead.

I was at school with quite a few James (in 32). A woman from my birthing class called her son James last month.

It's always been, and probably, always will be popular - it's very classic and the top 10 boys names seldom varies massively year to year

James is the longest serving member of the top 20 club I think. And it shows no sign of becoming less popular. Its one of the most common middle names for boys too.

I've come across 2 or 3 under a year old.

I know several Jameses, but am personally connected to four...

One is my 7-year old godson.

Then my 1-year old nephew.

There's also my 17-year old cousin.

The other is slightly older, at 32, and I'm married to him!

I know one aged 3 and recently whilst out with him and his family we met another a similar age. The other family actually commented that they don't come across many others.

I know lots but none are babies/young children (and none are girls/women either!). The three I know best are my nephew (17), my ex (44) and one of my aikido instructors (60ish) - known respectively as Jamie, James and Jim.

There are 4 in DS'S nursery class and for ages DS referred to them as 'JamesSurname' (eg. Jamessmith, Jamesjones') as one name, even when talking directly to them, presumably because he only ever heard the teachers call them by first and surname to differentiate between them!

I remember there were 3 in my own primary class as well. It's a great, non dated name, but it is seriously ubiquitous.

I have one who's 2 and my friend has one who just turned 3.

Mine's always Jamie though.

It's my 15 yr old DS's name. But it was also my dad's name, and my grandad and great grandad etc etc... A long line... it's kind of a family thing Grin

I must know more than 100, of all ages. Very common here in Scotland, and still popular for young children. DS is one and usually has at least one other in his classes. At one point there were four in one class!

Re. girls called James, this was very common up until the end of the 18th century as it used to be a unisex name (at least in Scotland. I think England too). It's only been regarded as a 'boy' name for about 200 years.

Same for Douglas, Nicolas and Giles - all unisex names in this period.

I know a few. It's pretty classic, like William and Joseph, as far as I can tell so you seem to get some of all ages.

I know a handful, from old men to babies. The nickname often indicates the age! In my generation, there was a spate of Jamies. As others have said, one tends to know some but not lots, it doesn't date, it is easy to pronounce and it is a nice name!!

I have one - it's a family name. One other in his school year with a similarly Scottish background otherwise we don't know any (Home Counties)
