Lighthearted!

Rowan always gets a positive response on here and is suggested a lot.

I don't like it. I think it looks feminine (I know it can go either way) and it makes me think of Mr Bean!

Fleur. This has such a horrible sound!

Genevieve. I think this looks like a disease!

I agree with Mitzy - I don't like the Edwardian names on the whole.

Off the top of my head I also don't care for Tabitha or Jemima which I see on here a lot.

Soppy toddler names - daisy, poppy, Millie these are fine for curly headed 3 year olds daft for adult women.

Hahaha, my cousin is Carlton and is a family name, handed down from my grandpa. Lots of the boys in my family have it and I wanted it for DS1 but DH's thick Scottish accent out paid to that. Which is why DS1 is Carter instead.
It reminds me if my family which is why I love it. But of course a person's perceptions of the connotations behind the name is what builds our "like" or "dislike".
If you get worked up by faceless ransoms on the Internet disliking your name then you need to grow a thicker skin.

Cheerfulyank Persephone is pronounced the same in the UK, 'per-SEFF-a-nee'.

Harriet is my middle name and I've always preferred it to my first name, I'll always be a flag waver for Harriet.

No idea why my parents picked it, my brother has a traditional family name as a middle name and my first name I know why my mum liked (an old friend, and also a favourite character in a book she loves), but they seem to have plucked Harriet out of thin air. I asked my mum where they got the idea from and she seemed very vague about it all!

In the US Persephone is "Per-SEFF-a-nee", not purse a phony.

I don't like Rueben. To me it is the name of an Appalachian kid in overalls and bare feet who started smoking at the age of ten. :o Also Sonny. I was Shock the first time I saw that on MN...I can't think of a more redneck name!

But some people probably think my boy's names (Sam and Will) are boring, and my daughter's already been mentioned as a " 50 year old woman." :o

Not sure why I read this thread, I knew my DD's name was a 'loved by mumsnet' one and it has been ripped to shreds. I had no idea people would really hate it, although I knew it wouldn't be to everyone's taste. DS has escaped though, he has a much more boring name. Fwiw I think it suits her.

'Posh boy' names. They're so LOVED on MN, but in my world, boys called Barnaby or Rupert get pitying looks.

Just read suggestions for Peregrin and Boris on another thread. Really?! Each to their own, but I've never met anyone called these names, and they're just not even 'unusual and cool' imo. Sorry if offends anyone. I know my own dad's name is a little marmite xx

Arlo is a character in Justified

A few months ago every baby name thread had someone suggesting Wreford which sounds like a commuter town in the Home Counties. Never understood that one

I am not a fan of name-mae versions.

Seren (just because it isn't a nice sound)
Aurelia (reminds me of nipples)
Aurora (dog chewing a toffee)
Penelope (I actually don't mind Penny as coin related names go but hate Penelope Pitstop )
Antigone nn Tiggy (Tiggy isn't too bad but the rest sounds like a backwards wart cream)

Rupert (why? Just why?)
Kit (used to quite like this but since coming on here and seeing it suggested in most threads, now sounds twattish.
