How many Boys under 5 called Henry do you know?

My all time favourite boys name I'm trying to persuade oh. I thought it was around 30 in top 100 now seen it's no.18 (possibly higher again in August when new stats out).
How many do you know? Will there be 3 in each class?

I'm a nursery and primary teacher based in North East and have never taught a Henr (have taught prob 400+ children). Have had a fair few Harry's though.

All over the country. My mum keeps updating on her friends new grabdchildren and recently they are all Henry. The hotel was abroad so the Henry's were from all over.

My friend lives in Gloucestershire and says 6 out her sons pre school group are called Henry.

I think it may be that Harry is so popular there is a move to Henry.

None I'm currently pregnant with dc3 if it's a boy he Will be called Henry. Great name great meaning.

Regional variations for the top names don't change a lot. There is some difference but its not vastly different. So asking which part of the country is going to tell you bugger all.

In 2013 Harry was the 3rd most popular name in the NW, NE, SW, East, SE. It was second more popular in Yorkshire and the East Midlands. It was 4th in the West Midlands. The only two places it was less popular was Wales (where it was 7th) and London (where it didn't make the top 10).

I would imagine the pattern for Henry isn't going to be massively different though my cavet on that is that Henry is regarded as 'posher' than its cousin Harry.

However names do vary more in different social circles. Whilst regions are fairly even, within that there are much more localised variations. So if you live in a nice part of town you'll come across a lot of one type of name but in the other not so great part of town you'll come across more of a different type. Its sad to think that it is like that, however it is the reality unfortunately. There is a lot of class and social status associated with baby names.

I have one and personally know two others. My almost five year old Henry asked recently 'Why is there always another Henry? ' But then said he liked there being others with the same name!

Oh and you can guarantee that if you pick an unpopular name, someone with the same name will win X factor or become famous soon after and increase the names popularity!

I would rather use a popular name I loved rather than a less popular one I didn't which may become popular anyway. < confuses self>

I think there are 4 or 5 at nursery and I know of another 3. We're in the West Midlands but the other three are elsewhere.

2 including mine. Yorkshire. Dh wasn't sure to start with when I suggested it at 20 weeks but Changed his mind and loves it now. Fwiw we chose dd's name without knowing how popular it was ( top 10). She is 2 and although we have met some out and About, in all of her groups ( she has a great social life!) and preschool she is the only one. Both me and dh have very popular names in our age group, neither of us care. If you both love a name, don't worry about popularity.

I know one, but have come across a few at baby and toddler groups - at one group there are about ten boys and two of them are called Henry.

If you look at the Telegraph birth announcements name rankings Henry is much higher than 19 - It was #1 last year.

I do think it is a lovely name though. It was one of our top three and I wasn't deterred by the popularity.

I think that unless you go for something really unusual it is hard to guess how popular it will be in your area/social circle, or indeed in the country as a whole. Our two month old son has a classic but not (we thought) overused name. It is top 50 but further down the lists than Henry. We only knew a couple when we chose it and since then we've met several more (friends/colleagues have chosen it for their babies, and baby classes round here are full them, plus variant/nickname versions). Not sure whether that's a quirk of my area or whether it has shot up the rankings for 2014/2015 and entered the top 10.
