My friend is a teacher due a boy and when musing over names Ethan came up
No
There are bloody loads of them and they're all naughty!!! Wink

Iwasbornin1993 · 14/06/2015 23:51

I know 4 under 5yo and I don't even have any DC myself yet. Lovely name though!

shitebag · 14/06/2015 23:49

I know 2 under 5 but I think its a great name :)

As a side note I've never understood people who think spelling a name differently makes it 'original', more often than not you hear a name before you see it and it still sounds the bloody same Confused

rednsparkley · 14/06/2015 23:44

There are at least two in every year at our primary school - 4 in Y6 iirc. I think it's a nice name (even though all of ours are always Ethan B or Ethan J or Ethan W etc etc and never just Ethan)

Please please please don't pick it and do any of those strange spellings Confused If it were me, I would either pick it cos you like it and spell it right or choose another name Smile

Kittykatmacbill · 14/06/2015 23:30

Lovely name! I can think of 4 in preschool or below.

BikeRunSki · 14/06/2015 14:32

I've counted up, I know 9 under 8.

BikeRunSki · 14/06/2015 14:31

I know 4 or 5 under 7. There is at least 1 in every school class/activity/group my dc (6 and 3) go to, and they also have a cousin Ethan. Several of my colleagues have Ethans of a similar age.

KoalaDownUnder · 14/06/2015 14:25

Tripping over them here (in Australia, though, not UK). It reminds me of ethanol, but I think I'm just tired of hearing it!

Frenchmustard7 · 14/06/2015 05:00

In my mind I always hear methane

AngryBeaver · 14/06/2015 04:58

I liked it after hearing it on Lost :)
(Don't change the spelling! Confused)

AngryBeaver · 14/06/2015 04:57

It was nearly ds 1s name 7 years ago. But the midwife who saved his life, chose a different name from the list!
I knew one in the UK and one here.

WeOnlyWantToBeOurselves · 14/06/2015 04:19

Actually, I do believe that Ethan is a very common name, though if you were to spell it differently it would make it not so common. Here are some suggestions in case you decide to put it in your list.
Ethen
Ethin
Ethyn
Eathan
Eithen

hawkmcqueen · 13/06/2015 21:07

I know one who is turning 16

ButterflyOfFreedom · 13/06/2015 20:03

I know of two - aged 2 and 4.

MamaLazarou · 13/06/2015 19:59

I know 3 baby Ethans. Faddy and so will date very quickly.

Creatureofthenight · 13/06/2015 19:54

I know 2 born in last 12 months.

fionadal · 13/06/2015 19:50

I know several, but think it's on a downward trend, being fast replaced by Toby, Theo and Reuben!

PallasCat · 12/06/2015 22:31

Great name, but I know of three or four in one school.

sweetpeame · 12/06/2015 22:02

Don't know any and I live in London! I like it.

Rhubarbgarden · 12/06/2015 21:59

I don't know any. It's a nice name. I like Evan too.

applecatchers36 · 12/06/2015 20:52

Know a few agree it's pretty popular

monkeyfacegrace · 12/06/2015 20:49

We are overrun with them.

shatteredstudentmum · 12/06/2015 20:48

I know 2, one is my DS (5) and one in my nursery class

DustWitch · 12/06/2015 20:18

DS was very nearly Ethan, it's now his middle name. It's a great name! It's fairly common around here though, I know two other Ethans aged 4 and 7.

LovelyWeatherForDucks · 12/06/2015 20:11

Popular here, I know of a toddler one, a newborn one and a primary age one.
