DD due in a couple of weeks and we thought we'd have come up with a name by now, but still don't agree!

Here are the names floating around in our heads:

Katherine
Annabel
Amelia
Josephine
Connie
Vivienne
Madeleine
Cassie
Eliza

I like all of these but DH only really likes a couple. I also have a stand out favourite but wondered what others thought? Which would be your pick? Thanks!

Love Cassie, I had Cassandra on my list of names with nn Cassie but hubby vetoed it!!!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 09/06/2015 20:04

Cassie - Absolutely love this, but would probably use Cassandra
Vivienne - like a lot
Eliza - ok as a nn but prefer Elizabeth/Lizzy
Katherine = fine - I like Kitty
Annabel - ok / don't love it though
Amelia - as Annabel
Josephine - don't like
Connie - it's okay / I like Constance but don't love it
Madeline - quite nice

NadiaWadia · 09/06/2015 20:01

My favourites are Katherine and Madeleine closely followed by Annabel.

ashesandfire · 09/06/2015 19:25

Sorry - meant Constance not Cassandra as a nn for Connie. Obvs

ashesandfire · 09/06/2015 19:24

I absolutely love Madeleine. Its so beautiful. Also love Eliza. I like Cassie but prefer Cassia.
Connie is cute but a bit nicknamey and don't really like Cassandra.
Katherine and it's variants seem very popular in my generation (30s) so find it a bit boring.
Annabel gets lost in all the Belles/Bellas. Just Anna is gorgeous?
Josephine and Vivienne dont do anything for me. Amelia is overdone.
Madeleine Eliza or Eliza Madeleine - lovely

wesH · 08/06/2015 10:12

Katherine: I love this name, its very powerful and elegant-sounding. Prefer it with a C but thats just my opinion.

Annabel: Cutesypoo. Met a 45-year-old Annabel once, it was just weird

Amelia, Josephine and Madeleine: These are fine names that i can't see anyone objecting to. Amelia is a bit cutesy but it's okay. I have always liked the name Madeleine

Connie: Cute, but more of a nickname than a full name. Constance is a nice name too however.

Vivienne: Vivien is better IMO - stronger and less frilly

Cassie: Short for cassandra?

Eliza: Worst of the bunch. Dorky and frumpy.

Bobian123 · 08/06/2015 09:35

Thanks for your input all! ARV-I think that's what we're most likely to do but it could be weeks before we get anywhere!!

Amelia has been my fave name for years but I do hear lots of them about.

Loving Josephine nn Josie and think I could maybe persuade DH :-).

These are all lovely names...

Why not wait until she arrives? She may suit one more than the others!

Congratulations!

BikeRunSki · 08/06/2015 06:41

Amelia is extremely popular amongst the under 4s I know.

I don't really like Vivienne (or Vivien).

I love Josephine.

Twooter · 08/06/2015 06:24

I like Josephine best. Actually I like Eluza best, but it is becoming more common. Vivienne just reminds me of Brad and Angelina.

VixxFace · 08/06/2015 06:18

Cassia

bluewisteria · 08/06/2015 06:17

Vivienne (this spelling, more elegant and dissimilar to male spelling)
Connie
Josephine
Cassie (although prefer Cassandra)

FatSwan · 08/06/2015 02:53

I like them all but Connie-not helpful I know!

Vivienne is gorgeous!

CakeRattleandRoll · 08/06/2015 02:53

Josephine nn Josie would be my first choice.
Second would be Vivienne then Katherine.

TheNewStatesman · 08/06/2015 02:45

Annabel and Amelia are both very popular right at the moment, so only choose these ones if you want a name that is very vintage-mid-2010s.

Katherine and Vivienne are both nice. Although I prefer the simpler Vivien.

R00tat00tt00t · 07/06/2015 23:56

Connie or Cassie are my favourites from your list. Vivienne also lovely (elegant) and like your idea of Vivi for pet name. What about Verity?

DampAndRotten · 07/06/2015 23:54

Katharine (prefer this spelling), Josephine, Connie or Eliza would be my picks. Really dislike Annabel and Amelia.. Just seem like spoilt brat names to my ears but that is entirely my prejudice of course.

nowitscleanugobshite · 07/06/2015 23:48

The little Vivienne I know is Vivi-to rhyme with livvy. Her wee brother calls her Venny-which is cute!

Marisola · 07/06/2015 23:23

I too prefer Vivien as less frilly than Vivienne. I have known quite a lot of Viviens as it's a popular name in my generation. But I've never heard of one being called Vivi. They were all shortened to Viv, or not shortened at all. I'm not even sure how you're pronouncing Vivi - is it Vivvy or VeeVee?

Sophronia · 07/06/2015 23:14

I prefer Vivien to Vivienne, and I like Katherine, Josephine, and Connie and Cassie if they're short for Constance and Cassandra.

StupidBloodyKindle · 07/06/2015 22:10

Vivienne is also my favourite from that list
Cassie is my second favourite

Bobian123 · 07/06/2015 21:43

I wonder if I can bring DH round to Vivienne. I can't imagine him saying it! Obviously want it to be a name we both really like. So much harder than I thought....

FunkyPeacock · 07/06/2015 21:31

Eliza is my favourite, I also really like Katherine & Josephine

turdfairynomore · 07/06/2015 21:28

Vivienne, Connie (Constance) & Eliza would be my favourites. Vivienne especially! Glamorous in full, cute when little as,Vivi and great on a hockey pitch as Vee!

fionadal · 07/06/2015 21:18

Catherine, Connie and Eliza are all lovely and I don't know many/any under 6s

Cassie is quite nice, short for Cassidy rather than Cassandra

I dislike Annabel, and it's very much "trending" at the moment if popularity is an issue.

Sorry, but I don't like Vivienne
