Girls Shortlist: pick two

alyxlndn · 07/06/2015 16:24

Spencer
Aurelia
Philippa (Pippa)
Clementine (Emmy)
Darcy
Nellie

Please pick your two favourite!
Keep in mind she has/will have two brothers called Ezra and Sasha, and the last name starts with an F and is one syllable.

I've been watching a bit of Pretty Little Liars on Netflix while I've been on maternity leave (such a silly show, but it passes the time!); is that where you got the idea for Spencer as a girls name? It's grown on me since watching the show.

However as others have stated due to the ambiguity of Sasha as a boy or a girls name I wouldn't go with something long associated with boys names or confusion may arise.

I'd go with Nellie or Clementine from that short list.

ipsofactocollapso · 14/06/2015 06:26

Philippa and Darcy :)

Ziglinda · 14/06/2015 04:06

I like Clementine.

Aurelia makes me think of areola which isn't a great association for a girls name.

Spencer and Darcy are boys names. Philippa is boring and Pippa is just a bit too much like an energetic perky girls book heroine.

WeOnlyWantToBeOurselves · 14/06/2015 03:55

Aurelia and Darcy, definitely.

Bluepetra · 14/06/2015 00:23

Darcy is the only one I like the sound of/ use myself.

Ward3 · 14/06/2015 00:04

Aurelia. I like Spencer (esp. Spencer Aurelia) but I agree it could be confused with a ds called Sasha.

Stinkersmum · 11/06/2015 15:43

Darcy is the only one I don't hate. I don't like any of them, but it's the best of a particularly bad bunch.

PallasCat · 11/06/2015 15:39

Bucking the trend - I like Spencer - or maybe Spenser with an s? Also like Clementine.

Falconwolf101 · 10/06/2015 20:29

Clementine and Nellie are quite nice!

charlyn · 10/06/2015 17:51

Clementine and Aurelia are lovely.

Really dislike Spencer for a girl

shitebag · 10/06/2015 15:17

Initially I liked Phillipa and Darcey through process of elimination but then I read about your surname and it doesn't go in my head at all!

I'm thinking Phillipa Frank (may or may not be surname of course) but its too Effy if that makes sense.

Basically Darcey is the only one I like.

MitzyLeFrouf · 10/06/2015 12:59

Definitely not Pippa as it has various unsavoury meanings in other languages.

And definitely not Spencer as that would be very strange indeed.

Nell and Clementine are both nice.

Rhubarbgarden · 10/06/2015 12:55

Love Sasha on a boy.

My favourites are Aurelia and Philippa.

Itsraininginbaltimore · 10/06/2015 05:35

I think you will have everyone assuming your Sasha is a girl, and your Spencer is a boy. That would get really tedious after about five minutes.

Although I do like Sasha for a boy.

Itsraininginbaltimore · 10/06/2015 05:33

Clementine is the only one I love. Aurelia is very pretty but it's doesn't trip off the tongue terribly easily in English.

I don't mind Philippa or Darcy but I don't love them.

I don't like Nellie and as for Spencer, NO NO NO.

She's a girl. Why on earth would you call her Spencer? It's not even a nice name for a boy.

Our dd (if she had been the ds we were expecting) was going to be called Ezra, so I like your taste in boys names OP. I'm afraid I don't really like any of your girls options though. Philippa/Pippa at a push.

Ward3 · 10/06/2015 04:38

Clementine, Pippa, and Aurelia.
Actually quite love Spencer but not so sure it goes well with Ezra and Sasha.

ashesandfire · 09/06/2015 19:14

Love Clementine.
Philippa and Aurelia are ok.
I loathe Darcy, sorry, and Spencer for a girl is just awful. I would assume in a sibset of Ezra, Sasha and Spencer that Spencer was one of the boys and Sasha the girl.
Nellie is an elephant. Eleanor or Helena or Penelope nn Nell is better?

TravellingHopefully12 · 09/06/2015 11:10

Clementine is beautiful - makes me think of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, but that isn't a bad thing, it's a great film.

Darcy is pretty too.

Volvox · 08/06/2015 17:20

Clementine and Philippa.

ClementineAndCordelia · 08/06/2015 16:59

Love Clementine ( if DC2 is a girl this will be her middle name ) and think
that Aurelia is one of the nicest girls names ever- so they get my vote . Both are nice with your boys names too .

TempsPerdu · 08/06/2015 13:28

None are really my style, but if I had to choose two I'd go for Clementine and Aurelia. Strongly dislike Spencer (for a girl) and Darcy. Love either Helena or Eleanor with nn Nell, but I'm afraid Nellie just gives off elephant vibes for me!

Allalonenow · 08/06/2015 11:56

Philippa or Clementine are the only two I like from your list, though Helen or Ellen with Nellie as a diminutive as it traditionally is, would be nice too.

I don't think Nellie has really yet made the transition to trendy glamerous old lady name that Clara or Matilda etc have.

StGodolphin · 08/06/2015 11:47

Phillipa
