Maybe you should consider Rover or Fido for a boy, since it seems that no-one's using dog names for dogs any more. Smile

They are nice names, but there are just soooo many of them!

What about Otto or Otis as alternatives?

Oscar was always my top boys name, from 20+ years ago. By the time I came to have DS 2 yrs ago, it was so popular I decided against it. In some ways I regretted it as I still love the name but every time we meet another one I feel glad I didn't, they do seem to be everywhere.

There are two in each of DS1 and DS2's year groups plus there are three siblings called Oscar/Oskar. We also have one in extended family. Its very popular.

My first thought was pet - specifically, cat. Then Oscar Wilde of but not a modern human...it's in now though? Confused you learn something every day.

But the current trend for pets names is human sounding names so many names could be either, really.

Milly, Penny, Alfie, Toby and Molly...are they the names of children I know or the names of family pets?

My husband and I have had to think long and hard about names for our baby to avoid "three dogs or three daughters?" confusion Grin
