What it says on the tin really. Evelyn is our provisional girl choice for dc2. We're thinking we can call her Evie or Eva for short. DH hadn't heard it before, I would pronounce it EVelyn but my dad says I'm wrong and says EVElyn. I don't want her having to correct people all the time when she's older.

EVElyn

But imo it's a mans name - Evelyn Waugh

I would say Evlyn but I think on the whole it's an either/either name. There's no right or wrong pronunciation.

DD1 is EVElyn. DD2 calls her Eve.

Although MIL insists on EVelyn which grates. I think both are accepted ways to pronounce the name but am irritated (very unreasonably) that MIL won't respect our choice.
