hyphenated girls names

I sometimes think hyphenated names are a bit much but they are an acquired taste. I knew a little Amelia-Jane once and it suited her very much. I would like to hear more hyphenated girls names, particularly ones ending in 1-syllable names such as Ann and Jean. What do you think?

For Spanish/Latin American names I quite like it. But generally I hate double barrelled names. Like pp I know a lot of Ellie Mai/Lexie Maes.

i like willow-grace and sophia-grace or grace-sophia or sophie-anne but i know a lot dont its the lexie lou trixie mae freebush ones i dont like or lacey

I don't mind them so much since I live in Brazil and every other girl and most of the boys have hyphenated names. Although there are 12 girls in one of my sons classes and 7 of them are called Maria - something (eduarda, clara, luisa, etc...) it must be very difficult for the teacher.

I quite like hyphenated / double girls' names, esp having lived in Spain where every other girl is Mari something. But Mary Jane always makes me think cannabis, so not so keen on that one

Ok I'll give you Mari but no Keelaigh isn't a name! If it was key-la it would be Keelagh but that has never in any culture been an actual non made up name.

kee-lah not keelay although keeley is a name ,keeleigh marie is a name for some people, 'shrugs' like i said i maye have made it up,

Mari is a Welsh name. Keelaigh is awful.

Hyphenated names always sound a bit trailer trash to me OP, sorry

I dislike most double-barrelled girls' names; they sound cutesy and infantilised, generally.

Only a few exceptions:
Sarah-Jane
Marie-Claire
Marie-Louise
(Marie pronounced the French way in both cases)

If parents like both names enough to want to use them all the time, then fine, but don't hyphenate. Keeping them separate gives the child the option of which name(s) to be known by as she gets older.

Sarah-Jane and Helen-Louise were very common when I was growing up. The latter sounds particularly nice with a slight french accent, the hyphen was often left off with people verbally informed that her name was HelenLouise with a tone of voice that said "drop Louise at your peril"

I think RiaOverTheRainbow has got the best suggestion if you are considering it though.

Personally if I wanted to call my daughter eg Lexie-Lou I'd use it as a nickname and put Alexa Louise on the bc. I generally prefer longer 'official' names though, to give the dc more options when they're older.

Speaking as a teacher, they are a bit of a mouthful, and usually, the 2nd one is dropped.
I'm not a fan, personally.

I don't think there's any harm in calling someone by their first two names, but I can't see the point of the hyphen. I'm sure the second part of the name gets dropped sometimes, even when there is a hyphen.

Amber rose is lovely but itskanyes ex so kind of ruins it, mary-kate mary-jane, Melissa -rose, Alexa-Lee, I like Keelaigh- Marie, although I maybe made that up
