The Stirling Twins

This is a no brainer for me:
Primrose and Theodore

Seamus and Maude - definitely!

Adore frank and Maude

Sebastian and hennrietta Stirling sounds great. Seb and Etta

Maude is awful and Frank doesn't sound like a baby name

Meant to add -- I'm not really keen on Sebastian as I dislike the NN Seb. Also, Sebastian Stirling would be a bit of a mouthful.
Alexander -- there are loads of them around here, so many it's almost the default name. It's nice though, with Stirling.
Frank is nice but I would use Francis for the BC.

Theodore -- should have added this to the list of boy names I like, sorry..

Harriet with perhaps Etta as a NN.

Anne is nice too, especially with NN Annie.

Amy are Carolynn are both dated 70s names.
Maude is awful imo.

Primrose is a bit twee imo, and the S at the end runs into the S of Sterling.

For boys, I like Luke, Seamus and Samuel (NN Sam?)
The S ending of Seamus isn't an issue as the last syllable has a short schwa vowel sound unlike the long O of Primrose.

So Harriet or Anne plus Seamus or Luke or Samuel.

Primrose and Sebastian.

Maude is dire.

I would avoid a name ending with a sibilant as it will collide with the S of Stirling. So although I like Seamus, "Seamus Stirling" doesn't sound well.

I think it's much more important that the name sounds right with the surname, than how it sounds with the other twin's name.

Henrietta is great. Also Gus Augustus

How about the more beautiful Henrietta instead of Harriet and then nn Etta?

My favourite from your boy names is Alexander, although have you thought about Augustus (Gus) perfect for a little boy born in August. I push this name on most threads

Seamus and Maude are fantastic twin names.

Harriet Stirling is a wee bit of a tongue twister I think though it is lovely, Etta is ok, Greta goes better.

Actually a lot of your names are quite hard to say in full (that might just be me?) I think it might just be the surname (I live there so not prejudiced against it :o )

Names begining with T seem to be the easiest to say with it or longer names. I'd maybe go for Theodore and Alexandra (stolen from the boys list)

Girls:
Etta - love it. Funky and a bit different
Ann(e) - not keen. Very plain. Nice middle name
Carolynn - not keen at all. Seems very 60s/70s to me
Maude (dh favourite) - really really dislike this, sorry. Too Grannyfied
Harriet (my favourite0 - it's ok. Classic and elegant.
Primrose - quite like it
Amy - love it. Never too popular but a lovely, timeless name.

Boys:
Frank - not keen. Very old mannish to me
Seamus (dh favourite-PILs are Irish) - quite like it
Luke - not keen. Don't like the sound.
Sebastian - like it
Theodore (my favourite) - like it
Alexander - love it
Samuel - like it

I would go for Etta and Alexander or Sebastian and Amy I think

Harriet and Theodore - I love both of these names but my DH's first girlfried was Harriet so we could never use it and he doesn't like Theodore but I LOVE it and would have gleefully used it for either of our DS.

I'm not so keen on your girls names but love Sebastian and I would make it Alexandria for your girl. Both names will stand the test of time and not date.

Not keen on Ann, Amy or Luke. Would Annabel or Lucas be any good? More unusual?

Maud and Alexander. Though I'd go for that 'maud' spelling, it's marginally more popular spelling than Maude for first name and saves hav ing to say "That's Maude with an 'e'"

Etta is lovely, I have one, longer full name though. Lots of names can have it as a diminutive- Elettra, Rosetta etc.

I think as long as you don't have James as your son's name... Seam us you could get away with!

Do you like Laurence, nn Laurie? I think Laurence Stirling sounds fabulous. Very strong but Lawrence is also a softer long name.

Don't like maude at all I'm afraid. Reminds me of maudlin. I would go with Harriet and seamus, so you've each got a favourite.
