Why am I pregnant again ffs? Stupid Catholic upbringing. My body will an unsalvageable wreck and we will be living in penury for the next two decades.

Anyway. Need a girls name. I am utterly devoid of inspiration, being interested only in grab bags of Skips and having naps.

Already have an Agnes and an Enid. Surname Stephens.

Dislike: frilliness; 'ah' endings; 'classic' names.

Like: fabulous names. I was keen on Ramona the last go-round, but think I might have lost my love for it.

Any suggestions?

Really awful names but here's my input as I think they are similar to agnes and Enid.

Maude
Mabel
Edna
Ethel
Greta
Gretel
Sylvie
Sybil
Blythe
Peggy
Maggie
Arwen
Bronwen
Patience

Crazyqueenofthecatladies · 25/05/2015 19:51

Luff Cora and Sylvia, yes I know they're a names but they do work well with the sisters names.

marshmallowpies · 25/05/2015 19:42

Meredith and Ramona are probably what my 2 DDs would be called if I'd had my own way. As it is I got my 2nd choice name for DD1 and DD2 had to be the only single name DH and I could agree on this time round.

If it had been his choice they'd have been Samantha and Joanne I think...

Brigitta

"Why am I pregnant again ffs?"

Haven't you found out what's causing it yet?

fattymcfatfat · 25/05/2015 19:36

I'm 23 and having DC3
I am Catholic. I get comments from people thinking they are funny "don't you have a telly" etc. my reply? I'm a good Catholic.

nothing wrong with poking a bit of fun at it. that reply didn't amuse mil when she asked why we didn't use contraception (with DC1) but the strop she threw was worth it Grin

ilovemargaretatwood8931 · 25/05/2015 19:22

Gloriana has always struck me as being a fabulous name.
Or Arianwen.
Astrid is amazing too.
And Esther.

DakotaFanny · 25/05/2015 19:20

Madeleine. Catherine.

MitzyLeFrouf · 25/05/2015 19:15

I think it's a good and healthy thing for people to be able to poke fun at their own religion.

OhHolyFuck · 25/05/2015 19:14

Astrid?

reuset · 25/05/2015 19:14

Well yes, there were always those at school who made Catholic jokes and stereotypical jokes about other religions, and people etc etc. I'd have expected them to have grown up since then and realized that it was not good form.

outtolunchagain · 25/05/2015 19:10

Genevieve

bluewisteria · 25/05/2015 19:06

Guinevere?? Nicknames Vera, Gwen, Neve.

MitziKinsky · 25/05/2015 19:01

MitzyLeFrouf - I'm only here temporarily as a name change, I promise...I will gone soon!

MitzyLeFrouf · 25/05/2015 19:01

If a Catholic can't poke fun at Catholicism who can! I'm a veteran of convent schools, making Catholic jokes is part of the deal.

MaudeTheMopLady · 25/05/2015 18:59

What about:

Sybilla (Bill for short)
Winifred (needn't be Winnie, DH's mum was always known as Fred).
Greta
Vida
Minna
Ingrid

reuset · 25/05/2015 18:53
