What do you think to Jesse?

.... does it make you think big girls blouse or ok for this generation?!

His brother is Sonny.

My ds is a Jesse and he's ace. People will insist on calling him 'Jess' which he doesn't really like but doesn't make a big deal of. He was named after his great grandad and it means 'gift from god' (which he was). He's at uni in Scotland and no one would ever think of him as a 'big girl's blouse', ever!

I know two born in the last few months so I think it might be getting quite popular. I think it's ok, don't love it though because I do think of "you big Jesse".

I like Jesse, but prefer Jed (mine is 13!!). Sonny and Jed sounds so great.

It makes me think big girls blouse but i don't feel that strongly about it so might just go with it as i do love it.
It's more about his generation anyway and I'm not sure that outside Scotland his peers would use that phrase/association? We are in the South East...
Oh well its probably going to be a girl now anyway Grin

I quite like it but you'll have a lot of people here saying 'big girls blouse'. I think it would depend on the area, it is not used as an expression where I am although I have heard it. It goes well with sonny.

I love Jesse. Love Jed too, ever since reading Ursula LeGuin's Earthsea - the hero is Jed. Also there was a really cool boy at my school called Jed.

Please, not Hudson.

I really like Jesse, think it's a great boys name but I actually don't think it sits well with Sonny (which is also great), too much "ee" sound at the end for one mouthful.

Love Jed, hate Ralph and Hudson.

It's cool. There's a great Carly Simon song called Jesse which is all about some cad that she can't help but get excited about even though she knows he's bad for her. He sounds very sexy.

And I'm not just saying this because of my username Smile. In fact I'd actually discourage you from using the name if you are in Scotland as "Big Jessie" is a much more common insult up there than in England.
