I love it but then I am a "Little Women" fan. Hence my daughter is a Jo! Beth is lovely, conjures up an image of a sweet, pretty girl.

Not often heard these days, but what about 'Bess'? And if you're in Scotland, what about Elspeth, which is another old short form of Elizabeth?

I really prefer Elizabeth to any of the short versions, however.

I really like it, as a pp said it makes me think of Beth from Little Women. I do think it has the potentil ao tbe a bit "wet" though so would go for Elizabeth on the birth certificate to give options. (My dd's middle name is Elizabeth so possibly a bit biased!)

my middle name is Elisabeth and I always wishes it was my first name so I could be called Beth.

My name is Bethany and I go Beth.
I like it. I wasnt one of many but still knew others. I dont think its the prettiest but yes I like it.

It's so interesting how differently people react to names. Our DD is an Elizabeth, known from day 1 as Beth. I like the simplicity of it and imagine she'll be strong, caring, creative but down to earth. I'm yet to meet another little Beth and yet it's not an odd name.

Well I'm happy with my own name so no, I wouldn't like to be called Beth Grin. But as names go it's fine, a bit wishy-washy perhaps, but fine.

I like it, and since I loath my own name I wouldn't mind at all. It would never occur to me that if rhymes with death - find that a bit odd tbh. My ds1's name rhymes with 'puke' but it wouldn't have put me off it!

No. I just think of Beth from little women and she really irritated me. It sounds a bit wet to me . I love Elizabeth though

DD (15) gets called Beth by a boy down the road but it's not her name and no where similar to her name. She absolutely hates it! Even though DD and the boy went to school for a few years and see each other regularly on the bus, he keeps calling her Beth Confused

I don't see Beth as boring or drippy at all - quite the reverse. Like a lot of monosyllabic names, it is simple and strong. It is also pretty, with nice associations.

Yes, it's lovely. I think I would prefer to have Elizabeth (or Bethan or Bethany) on the birth certificate, though, as it is a bit short for a formal name.

My mum is beth so I am fond of it. I have known omelette of Beths as well

I know two Beths. They are both incredibly lovely and caring people. I think of Beth as a very special name, certainly not boring.
