A thread on AIBU made me think that there are certain names I see getting a lot of love on MN but never hear in RL

There are loads more but I can't think? What other names are MN approved?

You clearly don't live in my part of Devon! These names are all as common as muck.

We even have a Beowulf...

'Cow' names; Clementine, Daisy, Marigold, Buttercup, Clover.

Arlo was my immediate thought; Rex, Felix, Hugo, JAGO, Iago

I have literally never met any of these names in RL. I do know a Torin, a Sylvie and about 300 Imogens though (OK, slight exaggeration). I also know a 40 year old Imogen.

I have never heard this used as a person's name and yet it's being touted all over this folder.

Imagine going through life being called 'wren'.

I used to think a lot of "MN" names were complete BS.

Then I moved here where I have met-
Ptolemy
Salix
Alden
Loic
Arlo-2, and both parents were gutted to learn they both had this unique name.

....loads more. My DD's name is absolutely boring in comparison.

I must know a lot of mumsnetters I know a Romilly, a Nell (Nell on bc too), Rafe and sebastian- surprised that is a mumsnet name though

It's spelt Ptolomy swimmer and the P is silent so is pronounced "Tol-em-ee".

Any name that doesn't end in 'ie' or 'ey' as it's considered twee.

I know a Persephone, two Penelopes, Cassia, Ottilie, three Montys, Theodore, Emmeline, Valentine, Clementine, two Barnabys, etc. I just didn't realise it was all very mumsnet until I read this thread!

Both Elsie and Evelyn are statistically pretty popular and rank within the Top 50 - around 1200 of each in 2013. Only 6 babies called Gladys though!
