Unusual girls' names - opinions please.

We don't know if we're have a girl or boy, but we do like unusual names. What are your opinions / favourites from this list?
Lorena
Mercy
Inez
Aurora
Tabitha
Honeysuckle
Marigold
Some are more odd than others and some id probably only have the guts to use for a middle name. But it would be good to see what you think. Thank you!

Lorena: nice

Mercy: Okay, not a favourite but I don't hate it. It does have some religious connotations though, so maybe avoid unless you are religious or don't mind people thinking you hang the scriptures on your kitchen walls

Inez: This one is fine, makes me think of an intelligent girl.

Aurora: Maybe you're starry-eyed about the similarities to the Disney movie or Aurora Borealis, but if you say the name a few times over in your head, it actually sounds pretty horrible. AUGH ROAR AH!!

Tabitha: This is the best of the bunch. People might associate it with cats but I think its a fairly nice name.

Honeysuckle: what the heck are you thinking, wanting to give a child a name with the word "suck" in it? Vile.

Marigold: Washing up gloves

I know a number of Inez's, both Spanish and Portuguese. They are all pronounced Inn-ez. The way you have spelt it phonetically it would be spelt Iñez, using the the "enya" not "ene"

I like Aurora (rory) but it is a bit disney princess - something that seems similar to me, and is quite unusual I think is Ramona?
I agree with PP that another flowery name may be too much with Primrose, but Tabitha seems to 'go' with it - both long and pretty pretty feminine.

I like Aurora. A lot. But its very marmite and will be associated with Disney Princesses.

The others are all not really to my taste to be honest. And Marigold is rubber gloves.

If you have a daughter Primrose what about something like Marguerite or Iris, Delphine, Sorrell or Juniper.

I like Inez, if it's said ee-nez, but we couldn't use it because it's pronounced differently in Portuguese (DH native language) than Spanish and becomes ee-nesh Confused.
Tabitha - Is a bit of a cats name!
Honeysuckle - Bit too plant like for my liking
Marigold - OK-ish, reminds me of an old lady.

So best one for me is Inez (said the Spanish way).

Ines (rather than Inez). I hate Aurora (sounds so awkward when said aloud). How about Seraphina. Delphine, Sylvie, Eponine, Constanza (shortened to Stanzi...have loved this since seeing 'Amadeus'. Mozart's wife was named this).

Inez is pronounced Inn-ez. V common in Spain.

The South American version is Ines (with accent over e) which is pronounced Inn-ess

Just for any doubt about pronunciation.

Honeysuckle, Mercy, Lorena and Inez are all very pretty.

Lorena -ok but prefer Lorna
Mercy - okay if you live in the american south in the 1920s
Inez - Like it
Aurora - sound a dog makes when chewing a toffee
Tabitha - fine but not that unusual
Honeysuckle - terrible
Marigold - not my taste at all

Agree that French 'Agnes' (Ann-yez) sounds closer than Inez to the sound you are after. Or what about Annis, which is the old Scottish pronounciation of Agnes?

Agree with Teapot re Inez. In Latin America, Inez/Ines is pronounced ee-NES. Love Tabitha. The suck/suckle bit rules out Honeysuckle.

OP says Inez is pronounced "an-yeyz." Where? I think of this as a Spanish name, and in Spanish it is pronounced "ee-NAYS." In Spain they might say "ee-NAYTH," but it can be spelled with an "s." The "e" has an accent mark.

Agnes, in French, spelled the same as English, is pronounced closer to "an-yeyz."

Don't know where the Spanish spelling coincides with French pronunciation. . .

In any case, I would guess from other posters that many people will have trouble pronouncing this, if that bothers you. I do really like the name.
