Hi all,

We're due in a couple of weeks and myself and DH still can't agree on a definite name if baby is a girl. We're down to the final 5; please can you help us decide?

The shortlist is:

Susannah
Sylvia
Camille
Verity
Felicity

Any thoughts?

1 Felicity means Happiness

2 Verity means Truth

3 Silvia - Spirit of the wood

4 Camille - She knows

5 Susannah - means Lily - Lily means innocence; purity and beauty.

Perhaps using what the name means will help you choose?

capercaillie · 17/05/2015 22:39

Susannah is my favourite. If I had another daughter, then that would be her name!

HappyTalking · 17/05/2015 22:38

My favourite is definately Felicity. Beautiful name with nice shortened versions.

FunkyZebraHat · 17/05/2015 22:37

Verity or Felicity

wesH · 17/05/2015 21:46

Camille and verity are both rather off-putting. The others are fine, any of them seem good to me

ashesandfire · 17/05/2015 21:25

I like all your names apart from Verity, but that's probably because I have a relative I don't like called Verity
My order would be
Susannah - I think this is lovely and has lots of nn potential. Susie, Sukie, Sannah/Zannah, Annie, Anna
Sylvia (though I prefer Sylvie)
Felicity
Camille
...
...
...
Verity

Wishful80smontage · 17/05/2015 18:58

Love Camille and Felicity :) both on my list for dc2 but my oh vetoed Camille.
I like that Camille is unusual yet familiar and to my ear sounds pretty yet classic.

hawkmcqueen · 15/05/2015 17:44

I love Susannah! But without the 'h', Susanna. Susy in the summertime Smile

Spydra · 15/05/2015 14:36

I disagree that Susannah is outdated. Susan or maybe Suzanne, yes - but not Susannah.

I love it!

LollyLondon · 15/05/2015 14:04

Susannah - gorgeous name!

swimmerforlife · 15/05/2015 13:39

None are really to my taste but I quite like Felicity.

I agree that Susannnah is in the category with the 60s names.

timelyreminder · 15/05/2015 13:13

Felicity or Sylvia

Rhubarbgarden · 15/05/2015 12:40

Felicity.

Really don't like Camille.

Allalonenow · 15/05/2015 12:30

Verity or Felicity are my favourites, both beautiful names.

Megs87 · 15/05/2015 12:26

Camille :) x

reuset · 11/05/2015 16:39

Susannah or Sylvia. Very good list though

alovelycuppatea · 11/05/2015 16:33

Sylvia with nn Sylvie as pp suggested is my favourite. Good list indeed!

Guin1 · 11/05/2015 16:10

Sylvia or Verity

Penguinotterfoxbadger · 10/05/2015 20:36

Sylvia or Susannah

I think k Sylvia is my favourite. Very elegant and I like the thought of a little Sylvia being some sort of forest elf (maybe that's just me!)

YouMakeMyHeartSmile · 10/05/2015 20:11

Felicity. I have an 18 month old one and get nothing but positive comments Smile

ch1134 · 10/05/2015 20:07

What's wrong with Sue? It's lovely.
I love Susannah but dislike all the others.

BlueBananas · 10/05/2015 19:49

Same thing, I wouldn't want there to be any chance if my baby being called Sue

IvoryMadonna · 10/05/2015 19:46

Susan is definitely in that range, but not Susannah.

BlueBananas · 10/05/2015 19:43

Any but Susannah
The others are pretty but Susannah comes within the 'Carol/Linda/Pat' category of names IMO

Melonape · 10/05/2015 19:39

If I had to order them:

  1. Felicity - beautiful, under used
  2. Sylvia - Sylvie is very cute
  3. Susannah- Pretty
4.Verity - I like it
  1. Camille - unless you have French roots I wouldn't use it

Other suggestions:
Rosalie
Eleanor
Erin
I know you didn't ask but couldn't resist!
