Unique girls names

Hi all,
Ive narrowed soon to be dd's name down to:
Kailia pronounced kai-lee-ah
Taleah pronounced ta-lee-ah, commonly spelt talia
Brooke
Kendall
I wanted something different that not everyones heard of, but OH thinks these names are borderline chavy (i was aiming for pretty but unique lol).

So would you consider these names chavy? And which one you pick?

I think you'd be better off giving your DD a nice ordinary name, and having a unique pet name for her.

I don't get this current fashion for made up unique names. Causes no end of problems for the namee when they are older.

Thanks all,we both fell for sophia but my best friends just had a little girl called sophie and shes the type to make a fuss over the names being to similar so i guess its out of the equation. I liked kailia because it touches on my OH's haiwaiin roots. He liked the idea but couldnt find a hawaiin name we both liked lol!

Didnt think this naming business would be so hard-were both on opposite ends of the spectrum! Oh well back to the drawing board

Sorry op but I think your partner has a point. Another one saying I don't like surname names or anything you have to explain pronunciation of.

I love Xanthe (zan-thee) but dp hates it.

I'm not sure it's really borderline tbh! Brooke and Kendal aren't really unique. The other two are just made up variations on other names and she'd be having to tell people how to spell her name all the time. Your daughter will be unique anyway - she won't need a made - up name to make her unique. There are sooo many 'unique', eccentrically-spelled names around that it's quite the opposite of unique to have one!

I like Kendall. It's not necessarily a name I'd term 'unique and pretty', more 'unusual and cool' but I definitely like it.

Brooke I'm so so on.

If you want Ta-lee-ah I'd just go for Talia (or Thalia?) It's an unusual but accepted name and Taleah just looks made up.

Kailia I don't like. To me it seems like you're saying 'Kylie - er....'

I see the first two as chavvy and the others as surnames. I dislike the creeping American fashion of giving surnames as forenames, especially to girls as they sound too masculine.

Isn't Kendall one of those Kardashian names? I feel dirty for even knowing that. Blush

The fact that you had to explain how to pronouce the first two, I would definitely not choose them. It will get old very quickly for both you and your DD as she gets older.
Of the four names I like Brooke the best. Or Talia if spelt phonetically. Kendall makes me think of the mint cake, and of The Kardashian family.

I don't find Brooke or Kendall (or most other surname names) particularly pretty.

Of the other two, I'd go for Kailia, but if you want even stress on all the syllables, you might want to consider spelling it Kailiya.
