Corben?

Allstoppedup · 29/04/2015 13:50

My DP likes Cory and so do I but with his surname it makes the name of a (I guess fairly obscure to most) band member I associate with my teen years and I just can't get past it.

I quite like Corben and the nn Cor would still apply.

What do people think? Alternatives?

Dont worry about being critical! That was why I posted, for honest opinion. My DS1 has a really unusual name so I can take it! Grin

I'd not seen Corbin as a spelling before posting this thread. It seems the general consensus is that this is the more common variation.

The baby name app I was looking through only had Corben (meaning as a steep hill?!) being Gaelic in origin. I'm now quite surprised that Corbin wasn't on their separately!Smile

If we go with it, it will be Corbin!

Noting to do with music, but back to the original question ...

Am very, very sorry to sound critical, but 'Corben' looks as if you can't spell Corbin (= Crow,) properly.

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 02/05/2015 18:10

Multipass!

Allstoppedup · 01/05/2015 14:52

I think the c.d inserts had the delightful lyrics included!

In my defence I was never a fan but I did see them live once when I went to see Marilyn Manson, they put on QUITE the show- not one I care to associate with my offspring Grin (now there was a band)

How could you even tell what they were saying?

Allstoppedup · 01/05/2015 14:38

I quite like Cormac as I think Mac would be another cute nn alternative.

Not struck on Corin, I have a female friend called Corin so to me it sounds too feminine!

Mixed bag of feedback, although definitely would look at the preferred spelling if we considered it more seriously!

Still need to find out if it's actually another boy or not! Grin

How about Cormac?

MamaLazarou · 01/05/2015 14:35

I dislike Corben very much. It sounds like a game show host or a puppet bear or something.

LittleIda · 01/05/2015 14:23

I like Cory and Corin but not Corben.

Allstoppedup · 30/04/2015 15:07

Hint magpie There are NONE! Grin

I'm now trying to think of any romantic slipknot lyrics...

BunnyLebowski · 30/04/2015 12:44

Corin is lovely.

The b takes it to naff 80's american soap territory. Really dislike Corbin. And Cory for that matter.

Letmeeatcakecakecake · 30/04/2015 12:42

Don't worry most people who would make the association would be too embarrassed to admit they know! Including myself in real life Blush

spiderlight · 30/04/2015 12:29

Friends of ours have a little boy called Corwen.

MrsTerryPratchett · 30/04/2015 06:04

I know a hot paramedic Corin. Really lovely name.

Guin1 · 30/04/2015 05:58

Like it, but would spell it Corbin.

Allstoppedup · 29/04/2015 19:17

Ha ivory I know they are largely irrelevant and very few people will make the association but every time I had to write it down I would be reminded of my grungy teen years and the boy who used to, er, pitch woo by texting me incredibly romantic Slipknot lyrics...Grin

IvoryMadonna · 29/04/2015 19:10

If it's any help, I couldn't name a single member of Slipknot, not even their first names.

Allstoppedup · 29/04/2015 18:38

Letme Yes! Blush

I've not met another Corben/Corbin or a Cory ever!

durhamgirl · 29/04/2015 17:26

My son is named Corin. Corbin was also on my shortlist but in the end we went for Corin as we thought it flowed better :)

Letmeeatcakecakecake · 29/04/2015 17:16

Is the band Slipknot??

momtothree · 29/04/2015 17:05

Every other child here is called Corben or Reuben or Cory - must be spreading. Still a nice name.

Strokethefurrywall · 29/04/2015 17:03

Love it (5th Element fan) - go for it!

Allstoppedup · 29/04/2015 14:52

Haha! juni that was my association too!

I do love the 5th element!

I don't mind either spelling actually!

OP posts:
JuniDD · 29/04/2015 14:32

Makes me think of The Fifth Element. I like Cormac.
