Sapphire - chavvy or posh?

Debating the name Sapphire with a friend, she puts it firmly in the 'Chardonnay' camp and I consider it posh, more akin to Cordelia or Jacinta. What do you think?

I know a Sapphira, I'd say they were aspirational rather than posh.
However, most people mishear it as Sophia anyway. Other children call her Sophy.

Sapphires are beautiful.

If you had a posh surname it might make it sound posh too. Eg Sapphire Atherton-Jones sounds posh to me.

I know a very old lady called Diamond and she is anything but chavvy.

Think I prefer Emerald to Sapphire, think Diamond is lovely though

I think that's fairly unanimous, OP. Adding my own two pence worth, it's not your typical upper class name.

I quite like it - I know someone quite posh (director at our firm) who called their daughter it. Maybe if someone chavvier had called her daughter that I wouldn't have liked it as much.
