Boy's name Tiger

I'm 28 weeks pregnant with ds3. Ds1 and ds2 both have unusual names. I like Atticus for ds3 but husband isn't so keen. The only name we both like and can agree on so far is Tiger but I'm worried it's a little too out there.

What are people's thoughts?

I think of it as a girl's name- but only because there are are 2 Tiger Lilys at school.

Though really, I don't think it is a proper name at all.

But it is fine as a family nicknameGrin

He can't have had a very normal life though, what with having the King Dong as a father etc.
I definitely associate the name Tiger with porn-star parents now because of him. He doesn't really look like a Tiger either, does he? It's too exotic-y for someone who looks like a nice simple Daniel or Ben.

Tiger Drew Honey is anything but balanced! I had to work with him and he's most pleased with himself and unpleasant to deal with.

I used to like the name Tiger but yes, Tiger D-H and the philander Woods have put me off somewhat.

Looker after a Tiger who was a shy gentle soul. When he came to me he asked to be called John as he found people kept teasing and ' attacking'
him.

I was sat behind a toddler Tiger on the Eurostar recently and it sounded ridiculous.

Tiger isn't even a nice sounding word really is it? Atticus is great though.

Think any boring name would be better than tiger or other such names.

It sounds like thigh only if you don't pronounce the h in thigh at all, which is very common in all Irish accents but pretty unhelpful when using it as a aid to pronounciation for non-Irish people.

Robin sounds like the bird's name but has a different meaning. It originated as a nickname for Robert.

Tiger is a very jolly nickname - but IMHO would only be a good 'proper' name if a baby had fangs and big whiskers and stripy fur.

Irish names differ a lot depending on your accent and in this case how you pronounce 'thigh'. In my accent Tadhg sounds like thigh-g.

It's not at all like Thigh, the h is silent. It's just Tiger without the -er .

Robin is a bird, not an animal, and lots of birds names are used as people names. I've never met a Hippopotomus or a Wildebeest though.

Imagine trying to forge a serious career and having to introduce yourself as Tiger.

Call him Tadgh and have Tiger as a nickname. Would you call a child Lion, or Elephant? No, because they are animals and not names.

Love the name Atticus, but I think Tiger is best as a nickname it middle name. I know its easy to start imagining all kinds of names as fabulous once you get going (we had quite a list for DS!) but you have to remember the real boy and man he will become. Rightly or wrongly people do make assumptions based on names.
