got a name but stuck on which spelling

I want to name my new little girl May/Mae but I can't decide on spelling, my great nanny was May but I like the Mae spelling, like Mae West. I just don't want people thinking it's a modern spelling to make her name stand out. What do you all think???(Her middle name will be Norma after my nana if that helps)

Actually I'll reword that, I think Mae Norma sounds awful but Norma Mae flows quite nicely.

Personally, I really don't like the name Norma and think it sounds pretty dire with Mae but its not like they'll be used together very often anyway.

I'm a great believer in choosing what you like though so don't worry too much about random peoples opinions

I'm leaning more towards the Mae spelling especially as she will born in august it might spare her a life time of "i bet I can guess when your birthday is" haha

What do people think of Norma as a middle name I love old names but Norma is yet to make a come back

I prefer Mae because it isn't a dictionary word. I am not keen on names that are dictionary words.

I tend to find that on MN people don't like the Mae spelling but I like it!

Great name and so underused. I like the Spelling Mae much more.
