I love this, but is it a cow's name?! Thoughts?

Ah it's beautiful. My gorgeous little DD is a Flora. I nearly changed it when she was a few weeks old and I'm so glad I didn't; I love flora and clover. :)

I think it is a lovely name and would have liked to call one of my DDs this. However Clover Clarke (my surname is no longer Clarke), seemed a bit too much at the time. Sounds alright now. Hey ho.

Adore Clover, when they meet her and see a lovely, individual, petty girl any thoughts of a cow or butter will not even enter there mind, all these OTT, silly associations really get on my nerves.

Clover = slightly hippie/bohemian without being pretentiously so, pretty but strong, fun, upbeat, feminine.

This topic comes up regularly. It's always the same responses. I had a Clover. It seemed lucky to me. It never occurred to me that anyone would care enough to hate it!

I want to like it. It's a pretty word that I associate with ... well.. clover. Meadows and stuff. I don't get the cow reference at all (Daisy in the other hand ..).

When it comes to Clover as a name though, I just keep thinking of it as a hybrid of Clovis and Grover. Confused Chloe is lovely?

It seems polarising! I do love it...not sure DH is convinced though so that may put a stop to it anyway! eagleray I think we'd get similar grief from friends and parents beforehand but as you say once it's official they have to like it or lump it really.

Cowslip was the creep I think. Also thought 'rabbit' instantly because of Rhubarb's aforementioned hutch rabbit. I think she mated with Bigwig, so she must have been half decent, for a rabbit.

I don't associate Daisy with cows as it's always been quite a widely used girls name. Whereas I've never met or heard of a human Clover before. Just the mooing kind.

Really like it. Thought of Clover Carr. Not sure why Daisy is always deemed to be fine, while Clover is dismissed as a 'cow's name' (then again I also love Rufus, which is apparently a dog's name, and Tabitha, which is only acceptable for cats).

One of my fave pics of DD is of her in Tesco pointing at the butter with her name on Smile

We had plenty of not so nice comments before we officially named her about dairy products, cows etc, but then as with most names I think, nothing but polite comments when it was made official.

DD pronounces it 'Cwawvah', bless her

But a shortened version of my name was often given to dogs, where I lived as a child. And I survived!

I had a cow called Clover when I was younger. She was awesome. And then came Clover 2 which was her daughter. So yep, It's definitely a cow name for me. But a lovely cow name if that helps?

Clover is a fab name, I really wanted it but didn't get to use it. Have made DH promise that any 3rd child (highly unlikely) will be called Clover.

I think of Clover Carr. The 'cow' association always baffles me given how many Daisys there are around.
