30 weeks here and STILL pondering potential girls names. DH has suggested this name to me, with the shortening of Rose/Rosa. He just loves the old Thin Lizzy song he tells me Grin We can't use Rose/Rosa on its own, due to it not going at all with our surname. So what are your thoughts please on Rosalie? Grin

If you plan to shorten to Rose then surely Rosanna is an option even with an Anna in the family?

Somersetlady · 18/04/2015 11:51

It makes me think of an old lady!
Dont watch twilight or sci fi so wouldnt mean anything to me in that front!

wfrances · 18/04/2015 11:50

i think tea.
my dad always asks if i want a cup of Rosalie?
i think its ok for a name but prefer Rosey,

OldFarticus · 18/04/2015 11:49

It makes me think of a cup of tea (my gran always used to call it "Rosie lee") but I think that's just me. I didn't think of Twilight so I would ignore that Smile

KikitheKitKat · 18/04/2015 11:44

My MIL!

GratefulHead · 18/04/2015 11:39

Beautiful name, love it.

Yes there is a Twilight connotation but quite honestly many haven't seen it. Rosalie's back story in Twilight is utterly tragic as she was living a perfect life until she died which explains her envy if Bella's life. Totally off topic.....

It's a beautiful name.

OutragedFromLeeds · 18/04/2015 11:34

I quite like it. It's a bit flowery for me, but perfectly nice. It doesn't really make me think of anything specific (haven't seen twilight). Don't love it, don't hate it.

Roseanne and Rosanna make me think of Grin

BrambleBee · 18/04/2015 11:08

Love it, and all the nn potential - Rosa, Rosie.

Would have used this for DD did we not have so many Rose's already in the family.

Admiraltea · 18/04/2015 08:58

Cup of tea.... Grin
Love it..completely agree with SanityClause...will not be relevant in 16 years.

TBF my 15 year old doesn't bother with Twilight as it is done and gone for her age group. Twilight was more my 18 year old's era Confused, and at 15 she is obviously way too Yoonique to be bothering with stuff that past it 18 year olds used to like!!

Rosalie is a very pretty name.

starwarslegoboy · 18/04/2015 08:54

Thin Lizzie

Valsoldknickers · 18/04/2015 08:48

Same as Scarletforya Thin Lizzy popped into my head!

Lucaslovesfelicity · 18/04/2015 08:45

It's the shortening Rosy... If people decide to call her Anna, I will have two DD called Anna... I love it though Grin

We have an Anna in the family already, so can't use Rosanna as lovely as it is

Mysister is called Anna & I am Rosanne. Confused

HardToDanceWithTheDevilOnYourB · 18/04/2015 08:34

Twilight lol

SanityClause · 18/04/2015 08:31

Very pretty.

Don't worry about the twilight/Grimm things. I didn't call DD1 my favourite girls name, because of a television show that was popular at the time. I have come to realise that now she is nearly 16, no one would even make the connection.

Theas18 · 18/04/2015 08:30

It's a great name.

Why can you use rose ? If she's kniwn as rose/rosa if you surname is bush or Thorne it'll still be a problem.....

EeyoresTail · 18/04/2015 08:29

Nice name, will probably be shortened to Rosie when she goes to school if not before.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 18/04/2015 08:28

I think IKEA - name of one of their patterns. God knows how I know that.
Like the name though !

outtolunchagain · 18/04/2015 08:27

I think Magic Roundabout , probably showing my age, but I love it as well, very pretty and a bit vintage in feel, sort of shabby chic if it was a Sofa !!!

tilder · 18/04/2015 08:25

Gorgeous name. Love Rosa too.

Makes me think of twilight.

DizziDoll · 18/04/2015 08:22

I love it. A dear friend of mine is called Rosalie and a friend of dd (7) as well.

gaahhnonicknamesleft · 18/04/2015 08:20

Beautiful name

scarletforya · 18/04/2015 08:19

I think of the Thin Lizzy song!

Penguinotterfoxbadger · 18/04/2015 08:18

Lovely name.

I think most Rose names are beautiful, Rosalyn, Roselyn, Rosabel, Rosamund, Roslyn, Rosalind, Rosalie..

My only issue would be that I'd want to ensure she was called Rose or Rosa rather than Rosie, but that's just because I've know a few Rosies who I really disliked.
