30 weeks here and STILL pondering potential girls names. DH has suggested this name to me, with the shortening of Rose/Rosa. He just loves the old Thin Lizzy song he tells me Grin We can't use Rose/Rosa on its own, due to it not going at all with our surname. So what are your thoughts please on Rosalie? Grin

I also think of fortune tellers, and someone I know from a family of travellers recently named their daughter Rosalie (after a grandmother I think).

I almost thought I was the only one thinking 'gypsy' until Superherosidekick mentioned fortune tellers.

I think of the burlesque star 'Gypsy Rose Lee', and seaside fortune tellers, and I know someone from a family of travellers called Rosalie.

of a cool mautre student I met at uni.

I like it.

squoosh · 19/04/2015 17:47

For some reason I can never remember if it's pronounced lee or lie.

SpamAnderson · 19/04/2015 17:46

I love it, it was one of my faves if we had another girl but we're having our first ds :)

Tattiesthroughthebree · 19/04/2015 09:23

It makes me think of Rosalie Brown's series of craft books, which I loved when I was a girl. I imagine Rosalie as being artistic, creative and capable.

jesspip · 19/04/2015 04:29

Love that name. Never seen any of those programs but even if I had, so what? Someone suggested Rosetta which is also a fab name. Xx

Clareyfairy89 · 19/04/2015 03:57

twilight and grimm. Love the name Smile

SpearmintLino · 19/04/2015 03:38

I think of the character in Mr Selfridge. I like the name Grin

squoosh · 19/04/2015 03:12

I thought 'Rosalie Dene' from the Chalet School, and was then a bit in awe of myself for remembering her full name even though I haven't read a Chalet School book in yonks.

KoalaDownUnder · 19/04/2015 02:25

I have a Rosetta which also gives the option of Etta. I quite like the language/space link too.

Oh my, Rosetta is divine!!

PunkAssMoFo · 18/04/2015 18:32

Meh.

It's a bit twee, but inoffensive enough.

Superherosidekick · 18/04/2015 14:22

Makes me think of fortune tellers on Blackpool pier, there was always a 'gypsy Rosalie' when I was a kid in the 80's

BunnyLebowski · 18/04/2015 14:16

I think of Rosalie Aprile.

So a middle aged Mafia wife with a 40a day gravel voice and big hair.

But clearly I'm on my own on this thread so pay no attention Grin .

RL20 · 18/04/2015 14:14

I love it. My name is Rose but I get called Rosey Lee, which is pretty much Rosalie!

ragged · 18/04/2015 14:03

... that I like Rosalind or Rosemary better.

I guess it sounds a bit hill-billy to me: Rosa-Lee.
Whatever you call her she'll make her own.

LadyFlumpalot · 18/04/2015 12:55

I love it. It makes me think of a tall lass with long curly hair dancing barefoot in fields with flowers in her hair and travelling around country lanes in a proper wooden caravan with a painted door.

In other words I think it is a very romantic and indeed!

iklboo · 18/04/2015 12:43

Grimm the TV series. Actress is very pretty and the character is lovely. For a fuchsbau.

Fattycow · 18/04/2015 12:34

Lovely name.

readyforno2 · 18/04/2015 12:05

It's a lovely name.
Does make me think of twilight, but in a good way. I loved Twilight

KoalaDownUnder · 18/04/2015 11:59

I think 'ooh, lovely'. And 'why don't people use that more?!'

Frecklefeatures · 18/04/2015 11:53

Beautiful name, very pretty but not too 'popular' so shouldn't date, plus short versions are nice too.
