I'm due next week, and I would love to hear other people's thoughts on our short list. It's fine to be totally honest Smile We have favourites but no one to bounce ideas off of. I'd also be interested in other ideas for names.

We don't know the sex, and our DD is called Leila.

Jackson
Connor
Patrick
Harris

Zoe
Orla
Maia
Thea
Ramona (that's my wild card!)

Thanks!

DH and family are from NI so th's are okay for us!

And his dad is a Jack, so we thought Jackson would be a nice nod. But I'm not sure about nicknames, I don't think we'd use Jack.

Thea is my favourite SmileHow would your Irish DH and family pronounce it in an Irish accent? My DH says it more like Tia and it's a struggle for him to say THea so he's vetoed any names with TH in them. I do love it though.
my second favourite is Zoe.

I like all the boys names apart from Connor. Jackson would probably end up being Jack. I think I like Patrick best followed by Harris.

Another vote for Patrick and Zoe! Both cool, underused names.

solstice930 · 02/04/2015 09:17

Thanks everyone! We're leaning towards Patrick (Paddy) - it's not even in the top 100 any more. I was shocked!
But we're more stuck for a girl. We loved Zoe, but I'm worried about the popularity (especially in the US). But it's still a strong contender. Possibly Zoe Orla, as I do think Leila and Orla are just a little too matchy Sad I also love Thea but that hasn't received much enthusiasm here Smile

Husband is Irish, and we have an Irish surname. We debated the spelling of Connor v Conor but both prefer nn as we have nn in our surname, and we will probably move to the US (where I'm from) and Connor is more recognised.

And I loved the Ramona books when I was little! I don't mind Ramona the Pest!

Orla!

musicinspring1 · 02/04/2015 09:04

But I don't like Pat, I would use Ricky which might put you off...

musicinspring1 · 02/04/2015 09:02

Patrick and Zoe.

MerryMarigold · 02/04/2015 08:56

Are you Irish? If you are, I like Connor and Patrick, less so if you aren't.

My Mum is Leila! Great choice. Very exotic.

I like Harris and Ramona and Zoe. Not sure Harris goes with Leila though.

A few other ideas...

Jude, Kirsten, Conrad

Lancelottie · 02/04/2015 08:51

Orla and Leila might be hard to say together?

Lancelottie · 02/04/2015 08:50

I liked Ramona the Pest, Billabong!

TheCowThatLaughs · 02/04/2015 07:54

There was also "Ramona the brave" though, billabong Smile

Billabong21 · 02/04/2015 00:04

Clearly noone alse remembers the story, Ramona the Pest.
Patrick is lovely, Pat is shocking.
Orla is lovely too.

stillsingingintherain · 01/04/2015 17:43

I like Conor (spelt this way) best, followed by Jackson. Cant stand Patrick. Harris is ok but prefer Harry or Harrison.

For girls I love Orla & Ramona is cool. Not so keen on zoe but other two are nice as well

Murphy29 · 01/04/2015 15:28

Connor, Patrick, Orla and Zoe are my favourites

DramaAlpaca · 01/04/2015 14:55

Harris or Patrick and Ramona or Zoe.

TempsPerdu · 01/04/2015 14:18

Patrick and Zoe (although I'm a Zoe, so I would say that! Smile). Like Ramona too. Thea and Maia are nice, but too similar to Leila imo.

Writerwannabe83 · 01/04/2015 08:45

Patrick and Zoe.

We were going to call our baby Zoe if it had been a girl.

Harris and Zoe

Sophronia · 31/03/2015 14:10

Patrick and Ramona.

Lancelottie · 31/03/2015 13:43

Harris and Ramona.

Neither of which are names I'd ever have thought of, but they just go nicely with Leila.

patienceisvirtuous · 31/03/2015 13:33

Love Zoe - that's top if my list.

Like all the boys' names except Jackson.

CrispyFern · 31/03/2015 13:31

I like all your boy names. Probably Connor is my favourite.
The girl ones, I like Zoe and Ramona best.

There are too many Maya's and Mias around here, but also, I crossed off Maia and Thea and Orla because I'd pick a name that wasn't two syllable ending with A because I think they sound a bit too matchy matchy together with Leila. But that might just be me.

princessvikki · 31/03/2015 13:27

love jackson that was what i wanted if i was having a boy, also love orla, i would love to use it but we have an irish sounding surname and my hubby wont let me

Penguinotterfoxbadger · 31/03/2015 13:24

Patrick and Harris are both good boys names imo. I don't like Connor (I think it's kind of ugly and also maybe should be spelt Conor?) or Jackson (Jack is great though).

All your girls names are nice imo, but I think Thea and Maia might be a bit awkward to say on the same breath as Leila (iyswim).
