Thoughts on Tallulah

Is it a bit of a marmite name? Ok for a child but not an adult? DC1 has a slightly unusual (never met another one) but not whacky name, it's often a suggestion on these boards, so it's MN approved Smile

Actually I have just re read the Tallaluh Bankhead bio and see she could be a bit of a feminist icon

oh yes and then if you google 'Tallulah Bankhead' it is slightly offputting apparently she managed to bring the entire Eton sixth form 'into disrepute'

yes I like it , in fact I nearly called dd this until my friend told me that the only Tallulahs he knew were the crazy little girls with unbrushed hair running round the playground screaming. I am sure he was generalising slightly, lol.

Would put in the same category as 'Cinnamon' or 'Desire' (yes, two names i have heard).

On the other hand I had a lovely pet rat named Tallulah off the back of that quote so yanno...

Terrible - the connotations are:

Miniature nightclub hostess in Bugsy Malone singing questionable come-to-bed songs; or

Spoilt little Verruca Salt stamping her foot with curly pigtails.

I love it.. Dd is often called tallulah (as a nick name, not like her actual name at all!). But I wasn't brave enough to use it..

Terrible. It only ever had appeal about 12 years ago when a lot of actresses used it, all within months of each other.

I love it!! It would go very well with my boring surname. I think with anything other than a dull as Dishwater surname it might be a bit try hard.

My associations are the little girl in Milo Armadillo (nice one since it's one of my favourite picture books) and my Mum used to refer to girls as 'a right Tallulah' if they were being a bit princessey/spoilt. I wouldn't use it personally.
