Help me choose, shortlist of 'grandad' names!

Really can't choose a name for DS2, his brother is Alfred but only ever called freddie. We like slightly granddaddy sounding names and middle name will be Charles as its a family thing. Here goes... Pitch in if you have a favourite...

Arthur
Basil
Bertie (Herbert was my grandads name)
Edmund
Ernest (ernie)
Rafe
Barnaby
Ron

A couple of these sound really dumb with freddie (freddie and Eddie!/ freddie and Ernie doesn't do it for me) my faves are barnaby (barny) and dh's fave is Rafe but I think it's severe sounding with our single syllable surname. Arghhh! We've started calling bump 'he who shall not be named' !

Yes I should have written Ronald and Herbert instead of the nns we would likely use! These are both my grandads names but I'm not sure how I feel about that! Don't want to be too bum licky to one side of the family iyswim!

Cecil always reminds me of a 'baddie' for some reason! Though o can't think of a single example so that's just me! Thanks all, Rafe is a contender though I'm worried it will sound odd as our surname is single syllable (smith) I may aswell say it as there are millions of us! And the Middle name has to be Charles so it's all a bit blunt sounding?

My cousin has twin boys. One is called Alfred and the other Wilfred. She refers to them as her "Freds" which I think is adorable!!!

Arthur or rafe. They were on our short list before I found out I was havin a girl.

Edmund is nice. Barnaby is quite nice, but very little boy, can't imagine a grown man called this. It's similar to Timmy or something like that. Barnabus? Rafe is quite nice, but terribly posh.

Arthur and Rafe are quite popular, if that is any concern.
Bertie and Rob are abbreviations iny mind.
Of the rest, I like Edmund.
