What do you think of the name Pearl? Is it already or likely to become popular or date do you think? Do you know any children/babies named Pearl? Honest opinions welcome.

I went to school with a Pearl...she got bullied hard for many reasons including her name unfortunately.

squoosh · 09/03/2015 13:24

I'm not a huge fan. Pearl smokes 60 a day and has a secret stash of gin in her handbag.

manicinsomniac · 09/03/2015 10:53

I know one new baby Pearl.

I don't like it personally but don't think it's that common.

TaytoCrisp · 08/03/2015 19:56

Beautiful name.

rockinrobintweet · 08/03/2015 19:53

LOVE the name Pearl ??

Blackforestdonuts · 08/03/2015 18:39

Personally I like it but when I suggested it to my husband he went straight away tothe 'pearl necklace' joke. So - beware of the immature/teenage teasing opportunities I guess!

DorothyBastard · 08/03/2015 13:33

I love it. So elegant and timeless.

twinjocks · 08/03/2015 13:29

I think it's a beautiful name.

margaritasbythesea · 08/03/2015 13:07

You would be Mother of Pearl!

Love it.

Titsalinabumsquash · 08/03/2015 13:01

I love it, I'd have it for my current belly dweller but DP vetoed it. Sad

GingerLDN · 08/03/2015 12:58

I'm also Scottish and don't like the name because we really can't pronounce it. So it is Pe-ruhl up here. Same with men called Karl - Ka-ruhl. However unless she moves to scotland it probably wouldn't be an issue!

temperamentalamongcorvids · 08/03/2015 12:33

It would be pronounced Peril round here. Otherwise I like it.

AmandaTanen · 08/03/2015 12:30

It doesn't sound good with my scottish accent and reminds me of tampax too as I use the pearl type.

gymboywalton · 08/03/2015 12:28

i know a 10/11 year old pearl

i used to know a gay male couple who called themselves 'pearl and shirley' and that's all i can think of when i hear it

IsadoraQuagmire · 08/03/2015 12:25

Don't know any young children called Pearl, but I met someone my age (18) with this name. She doesn't like it, but I think it's lovely...

Castlelough · 08/03/2015 09:15

I know a 5 year old with Pearl as the middle name. It's really lovely on her.

ouryve · 08/03/2015 00:10

Is it said with a husky smokers' voice?

Still a bit Corrie for me.

caughtinthemoment · 08/03/2015 00:07

I like it but the Eastenders connection would put me off as it's bound to have a huge surge in popularity now.

iwishicouldsing · 07/03/2015 20:37

I love it.

As has been said - I'm Scottish so to me it doesn't sound great and when I've seen previous threads about the pronunciation I definitely can't say it the way I imagine you prefer! I have a pretty soft accent too so I imagine we could make it even worse up here!

SanityClause · 07/03/2015 20:27

Hmmm. Don't really like it, sorry. Just my opinion, thoug.

Viviennemary · 07/03/2015 20:23

I think it's lovely. Though I don't know anybody with that name.

myotherusernameisbetter · 07/03/2015 20:22

I was just about to post the same as youmakemydreams

There is no way it can be used in Scotland, it sounds terrible. It's more "Per-uhl" where I live at the moment.
