My son will be called Thing2

I don't have a name for my very soon to be born Ds (less than 4 weeks)

I have trawled through lists & listened to every suggestion people have given me but none seem to 'fit' .
It's got to the point where I hope he comes with a name else it really will be Thing2 (i already have a Thing1)

Theses are my needs iyswim

I have an uber rare German Surname (only 15 of us exist) that it has to go with .
It can't be Chavvii so no Kaydan or the likes ( no offense just not for me)
I'd prefer something different as none of my immediate family have your everyday British names iyswim .
The names I did like/want have become far to common such as Reuben/Alfie

I do like Blake/Jasper & Ruari but none are quite right Blush

I sound really fussy , but I feel this is a huge decision that I should not have control over I'm useless with decisions & don't want him to be miserable when he is older due to me choosing some random name that he hates Blush

Any ideas/suggestions ?

Can I suggest Thurston or Vigo. Both Nordic names but both are amazing and under used.

Switch it off, I like Blaise, too but prefer the (?) French spelling.
Also I like Ambrose and Attila.

The best thing you can do if you want to be "different" - i.e. for your child to have a unique name - is to go for the names of our generation/our parents' generation - which have all fallen out of favour for baby-namers in 2015

I have never met any of these among the under 10 population(correction: I have met two Peters but these pale into insignificance compared to the legions of Archies/Oscars etc)

If you want to be more outlandish, maybe:

Germanic sounding names could be: Torben (met one the other day, think it's lovely) or Fabian?

I think German for 'thing' (depending on shade of meaning you want) could be Sache, Ding or Wesen.

Or just use less common (in UK) German names to add impact from the surname: Zelig, Otto, Falco, Rudiger, Wolfgang, Jens, Torsten, Bruno?

Flora Every English name possible has already been used by one of Dps siblings (he is one of 8) and as they are a close family we can't really double up on names .
Not sure really what German names their are tbh apart from my Dgds which was Helmuth ...

OP Am probably going against trend here, but have you considered giving your son a very 'straight' but pleasant classical name - either English or German - plus one or two middle names that are more unusual or fashionable or off-the-wall. That will give him - and you - the maximum flexibility.

I tend to like names that don't automatically date a person or seem faddy/fashionable or too try-hard. By all means reflect fashions and personal preferences in middle names. They can always be used instead of classic first name if preferred.
