We knew we were having a baby girl from the 20wk scan and started to think of a name. Short list from then has been Violet, Roisin, Olwen and Audrey with Roisin and Olwen as favourites. Our baby girl was born on Monday and that's when dh stated he wasn't sure - Olwen been to unusual and Roisin because he remembered the only person he knew with the name died tragically so its a bad omen. I think we should stick with our shortlist dh wants to start looking again the trouble is family ate trying to get involved.

FWIW - I think Violet is lovely.
Ignore family. It needs to be a name that you, Dh and hopefully baby dd are happy with.

TBH I would find it very hard to use Roisin after your DH has said that.

I think Olwen is lovely though (and I like Anwen too).
Do you not think she looks like a Violet or Audrey?

Definitely don't let family get involved, but if your DH isn't happy with the names you had picked then let him come up with some more to try out, you do both need to be happy with it. Congratulations by the way!

Take as long as you need! Even if it takes over 6 weeks The fines a maximum of £200 iirc

Roisin is a beautiful name.

Orlaith is also very pretty- would you consider that? Grainne, Aoife and Caoimhe are also favourites of mine.

Ignore everyone - close down all conversations about it with everyone except your DH. Tell people to refer to her as "Pixie" or "Bean" or whatever until you're ready.

You have six weeks. Use them. Don't rush it. Try things out, give yourselves a deadline. It really doesn't matter. I know several people who took the full six weeks to publicly name their baby.

And congratulations! My head was all over the place at 5 days. In a couple of weeks you'll see things a lot more clearly.
