4 boys names, which one to use?

Little boy is due in May. We have 4 names that we love. We like traditional names, and I quite like medieval connections. We are ideally wanting it to be outside the top 100 list.
What are your opinions?

Edmund- this is the name we had picked out before we got pregnant and I always thought we would use it, but now not sure it's still my favourite.

Robin- this one is my favourite, but probably not DH's.

Ambrose- DH's favourite, and I love it because it's quite rare, but I worry people won't recognise the name and will be asking us to spell it or explain it.

Felix- the only name that doesn't really meet our criteria of traditional and not popular, but we both think it's so cute!

I know that Felix is the odd one out from our name list, and I never thought it would be something we would go for, but it's such a cute name! I think we will only use it if the baby seems to be a happy little soul though.

I'm glad everyone at least knows Ambrose as a real name. We worry our friends won't have heard of it, and even though I shouldn't care about anyone else's opinion I do worry about people judging and commenting behind our backs. Time to start testing it out in RL and guage some responses I think!

Definitely rediscovering my old love of Edmund. I love Blackadder so that connection doesn't bother me. Don't really like Edwin as some have suggested, and would probably shorten it to Ned.

I still can't get past my preference of Robin though. I think it fits us really well! I've seen it mentioned a few times on here lately so slightly worried it might become the next popular name, like Reuben has recently. Hoping to get DH more on board with Robin over the next few weeks, and then after he's born catch him when he's a bit emotional or impressed by what I've been through!

Edmund! It's a fabulous name!

They are all nice choices - Felix (very common around these parts) & Robin (much like Rowan imo & you'll get the whole boy or girl thing regardless of spelling) are my least favourite. Ambrose in great though ... I know a sibling group - Ambrose, Benedict & Caroline - lovely!

Robin is a lovely name.

Ambrose reminds me of the custard brand.

Felix is nice so is Edmund but I really like robin.

htf2 don't worry. I do love his name too and I can't imagine him being anything else now. I just favoured Robin a tiny bit more, but because we didn't use it I got to use Robert as his middle name after my Grandpa who died just a few months after DS was born so it probably turned out for the best.
Although thinking about it DH has got his way on all 4 DC's first names and I picked all the middle names a few days later!

I like Ambrose and Robin. Really dislike Edmund, and although I like Felix, it's a bit 'trendy' at the moment and getting much more popular, and the other names seem to fit more with the impression I get of you and your husband.

Felix is lovely, wonderful, amazing name. I love it. I know a Felix.

Edmund is good, nicely abbreviated to Ed, Eddy or possibly even Ned. I would use this and abbreviate to Ned.

Ambrose is lovely but I do think people will be asking how to spell it.

Robin Not bad but I would tend to think of it as a girl's name, I know the spelling is usually different (Robyn).

Now that I know a Felix I never think of cat food. I might think of Edmund Blackadder but that is because I am 50 and it is my generation, children will not. And I doubt they will think of Custard for Ambrose.

I quite like Edwin.

My kids have short names, I must admit I do like short names! I'd go for Felix or Ned if it were me!

Edmund is the nicest. I think Ambrose and Robin are a bit girly. Felix is okay, I suppose, but I will always think of cat food.

love Ambrose really, I've never met one, but even I would know how to spell it. Robin is also a great name.

Really dislike "mund" names. Love Edwin as a previous pp suggested.
Love Robin.
Ambrose a bit pompous.

I like Felix but the others, not so much. What about Anton, Angus or Anselm as someone suggested, Finlay maybe?

Try calling the name out loud (imagining him in the school playground aged about 8 and see how it sounds!)

Ambrose is a bit feminine to me, sorry
as is Robin. Gorgeous on a girl though Although the argument there is. It was a boys name long before it was used for girls

My brother is called Ambrose. His name has ever caused him any issues! He is 6'5" mountaineer and about as unlike Niles Crane as I can imagine!

Other than than that, Robin.

I used to think I liked Robin but I know a guy called Rob at work and recently found out his actual name was Robin. For some weird reason it made me see him in a different light... Like he was a bit wet or something.. Totally my problem & not his, I know, but it still put me off using the name..

My DH is Robin and I LOVE his name. You never really hear it any more for a boy, always the girls version. Although as he's got older he prefers Rob, but I call him Robbie :)

Felix! My favourite. The only reason I don't say Ambrose is that for me personally I know one with a sad story so couldn't use it.

Aubrey is a good old fashioned boys name, though I know it will be met with a tumult of abuse... I met a lovely old man once called Aubrey and I always thought I'd like to use the name. Unfortunately dh disagrees. And for some reason Americans think it's a girls name!
