Starting a new thread as I got lots of good responses on the last one but I wasn't clear enough!

I love one syllable names, which have a longer, more formal/ classic full name.

I love the following but can't have:

Anything ending 'an/en/on' so no: Fabien (Fab)
Anything with an ooo sound: Louis (Lou) Jude, Hugh
No 'at' either: Jonathon (Nat), Pat

I quite like:
Daniel (Dan) - not sure about the 'yul' sound
Douglas (Doug) - too Scottish?
Jeffrey (Jeff) - husband not sure
but not sure.

French/ Welsh/ Cornish associations good.

Any more ideas? Thanks

I love short names too, although I only like longer names on BC if they have the nickname in the longer name. So like Ben/Benjamin but not jim/James.
Ideas:
Sid/Sidney
Ned/ted/Edward
Jim/James
Bertie/Robert/Albert
Fred/Frederick/Alfred (or Alf)
Tom/Thomas
Tim/Timothy
Max/maxwell
Doug/Douglas
Gus/Angus/fergus
Pip/Phillip
Sam/Samuel
