If I like: Nat/ Pat/ Lou/ Jude/ Hugh/ Doug/ Jeff/ Dan

Starting a new thread as I got lots of good responses on the last one but I wasn't clear enough!

I love one syllable names, which have a longer, more formal/ classic full name.

I love the following but can't have:

Anything ending 'an/en/on' so no: Fabien (Fab)
Anything with an ooo sound: Louis (Lou) Jude, Hugh
No 'at' either: Jonathon (Nat), Pat

I quite like:
Daniel (Dan) - not sure about the 'yul' sound
Douglas (Doug) - too Scottish?
Jeffrey (Jeff) - husband not sure
but not sure.

French/ Welsh/ Cornish associations good.

Any more ideas? Thanks

Skylark2, I can't use any of them due to my surname and ds1 name!

Just realised, names starting with L are out too!

I like Jared as mentioned up thread. Also Redmond. I quite liked the idea of

Red.

Just Red (for a boy)

Nobody I suggested it too got my vibe though!

\i like Douglas and patrick but not so sure about Pat or Doug.
I like Jeff but I think it's not popular on mumsnet. I have similar taste to you I think. Dougie (doogie) I love, that was on my list! I love the name Donald!

Your names are ''porch sitter' names. American men born in about 1925-1945. Here are some more Porch sitter names off the top of my head.

Bruce
Victor
Leonard
Donald
Saul

From Swedish Edith's list I like Richie, Kim, Jem, Bobbie.

Your name taste (and swedish edith's name taste) is lovely, refreshing. A change from the usual without being ridiculous.

Oh, I like Ray, Don, Len rather than Lin, and Zeke and Ike are aling the right lines!
The 'on' is more of an 'un' sound problem, as our last name ends in 'son'.

That's funny, I can't use names ending t/d/n or with 'Oo' sound. I like:

Cass
Gus
Cal
Mack (Cormac)

And bit out there but in love with...
Shep (Shepherd)
Moss (Amos /Moses)

If you like Pat but can't use it, you could use Patch (Patrick)
