How do you pronounce Beatrice?

Bee ah triss for me - Scottish (not West Coast but general generic Scottish accent and I have no idea why as I was brought up in Edinburgh Confused )

It's a sort of ber-uh-triss there, depending on the region.

I'm guessing those saying "Beer Triss" have the type of accent that does not pronounce the "r" at the end of "beer" - ie in which "bee uh" and "beer" would sound the same!

They don't actually add an extra 'r' but as they don't pronounce the 'r' a the end of 'beer' that's why they use that word when explaining their pronunciation of Beatrice.

If that makes any sense!
