Hi,
I'm thinking of using Peter James as a name should my baby be a boy. Peter seems so uncommon now, I don't know why I love the name, what do you all think ?

If not Peter we will prob go with James Matthew.

I know 3 boys called Peter, 2 7 year olds and a 10 year old.
I quite like it.
Both of the 7 yr olds are named after grandparents and the older one is from a very religious family.

Peter is the best name EVER.

With middle name James he might get called PJ so consider whether you like that...

It's a lovely crisp name and I've never met a horrible Peter. Paul however. ..shudder.

I like it and I know a 21 year old Peter but you have to be prepared for Pe'er. :)

My brother is a Peter. Sorry it's a no from me. Just seriously boring. Not offensive but you could do so much better!

Peter is lovely. It is on the rise around where I live so don't expect to be the only one but if that isn't important, go for it.

I would choose Peter over James - I have a James and love it very much - but no matter where you go there is always another!

It's nice. I like Paul too. I'm showing my age probably (early 40s), but they sound like normal names and I've known a few of each, more Pauls than Peters though

Its still uncommon - around 300 last year i think in the whole of the UK? but I love it, I know a toddler Peter and he is a darling child.

DS2 (now 21 months) was going to be called Peter until about 3 weeks before he arrived - I had a pregnancy-induced rage and decided I hated it, so we changed it to a similar type of name. But I still like it and sometimes wish I hadn't had The Rage about it Grin

I know two Peter's (though they go by Pete mostly as adults) and they're both nice blokes.

I really like it. I don't think of it in the same category as Paul as I know Peters of a wider variety of ages and Peter just feels more classic to me (which I know is silly when they're both biblical names). That said, I'd be quite happy to see a baby Paul as well.

My Aunt has just had a baby boy called Peter. I'm not wildly keen on it but for no good reason at all, just maybe not something I would choose but you can't please every random on the internet!

It's still a fairly popular name, ranked 182 last year, though numbers have been steadily decreasing, but this seems to have slowed lately.

It's a good solid name.

I think it's a bit like Paul in that I know so many of them in their early 30's that it hasn't been gone long enough to make a welcome resurgence.
