would you call your daughter Darcy?

When you hear the name Darcy, what do you think? Is it feminine and pretty? Does it go with Tilly?

Cannot decide what little girls name I like!

No. It's too American and sounds like a surname rather than a given name. Not at all feminine.

Can't fathom why people would think it upper class, I see it as quite the opposite

Love it, always have. DS1 would have been either Darcey, Dylan or Harper if he had been a girl.

We live overseas though, so thankfully Darcey hasn't been subjected to the massive rise in popularity that I think it has in the UK.

For a girl I like it spelt Darcie. I don't think it's over girlie, but it's a lovely name.

I really like it, spelled Darcey. I think Dulcie is actually more chavvy than Darcey which is a completely normal name

Liked Darcey as a name before Darcey joined strictly. Now will be used to death. Don't do it unless you want her to have to use another initial to differentiate her from all the other Darceys in her class. Sorry :-(

I love Darcy makes think of Darcy Bussel - ballerina or Mr Darcy

I have a little girl called Darcy and out dog is called Tilly!
Darcy was my a favourite girls name for many years before she came along and I like that I see it as a slightly masculine name. It's also not popular where we live.
We do joke that we will call her arsy Darcy when she is a teenager throwing a strop!

I just snorted with laughter at squoosh. You'd think he'd at least endorse a couple of products too. Languishing about in just the one period drama.

I don't like the term 'chavvy' either. I do know why people use it if I am utterly honest. It's shorthand. You'd hear the same thing said of Darcy here. I know of a couple and their siblings are Kaiden/Demmiee-Lee and Tayla/Bayley respectively. They seem to belong to a certain 'group' of names I suppose. Locally that is. I'm sure there are Darcys in every socioeconomic group.

There are two Darcies at my DD's school. One has an unmarried, financially struggling mum, the other's mum is a surgeon. So, from what I have seen Darcy has broad appeal across different classes.

I think he's only been in the one period drama. Lazy git never capitalised on his popularity. He should have spinned it out as a series like that sensible boxer Mr Rocky did.

No because it is a surname, predominantly an American name (we're not American) aand I always think of "the famous Mr D'Arcy" from the period dramas

I like darcy and hate Tilly. I don't watch strictly but when darcy bussell was in her ballet prime she was truly inspirational. And I love pride and prejudice too Grin
