Hi,
We'd like to find a great name that works across most european languages. We love names like Agatha and Theodora -- can you think of others?

You might want to avoid the th sound - in a lot of European languages, names with it just have a t (so Katrin, Agata, Teodora...)

BadPenny, I know they are and while I like them, I know they are frowned upon over here by loads of people. But I would say, go with what you as the parents like! Smile

Yeah- I don't think I know anyone who doesn't have a child called Eva!! (seriously)

coffeenut · 09/02/2015 11:44

Eva is a good one.

fattycow · 09/02/2015 11:33

I'm from the Netherlands. Short names are really a trend at the moment. Emma and Eva are in the top 20, as are Tess, Sophie/Sofie and Julia.

brightreddress · 09/02/2015 11:14

fattycow where are you from? Which names are cool where you are?

coffeenut · 09/02/2015 09:44

Lucia. Anna is boring.

fattycow · 09/02/2015 09:40

I think Anna is your best bet, as loads of the others I have seen on this thread are considered really old-fashioned over here!

Edith.
In the UK we use "Ee" as the first syllable, in France and Germany they use "Ay". I knew a lovely German lady called Edie (pronounced Aydie)
