Help with a girls name

We are expecting a baby in April and I think we've pretty much decided on Sebastian as a boys name.

For girls my/our taste is eclectic and varied to say the least!

We both love Harriet but unfortunately is a no go because of our surname (think jk Rowling ...)

So Anna, Hannah, Poppy and Lauren are all favourites but we think 'too popular.'

Then slightly more unusual - we love Willow (but a good friend named her daughter this) Seren (ditto) and Rowenna which we like but think it might end up being Rowena, which we aren't so keen on.

Can anyone help us decide? :)

Out of the names you've listed Lauren, Willow and Seren are my top 3.

My favourites from your list are Harriet and Anna. I love both, Anna best. Have you considered Francesca.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 20/01/2015 20:16

If you are not sure about using a Disney heroine's name and prefer to avoid HP I'd opt for Lauren or perhaps Laurel.

If you still hanker after Anna or Erin or Phoebe etc and really can't find something to equal them don't let the fact they're popular put you off.

I do like serena. Not sure about some of these others though ... Any thoughts on the ones in the OP? They are the ones DH and I both like.

The names above I like but are very popular and the ones I don't like are less popular.

I know, I am an awkward sod!

How about Eleanor or Elena. Charlotte, Rachel, Zara, Heidi, Annalise or Xanthe.

babyinapril · 20/01/2015 12:35

I really don't like morwenna et al - not sure why. Is Rohanna even a name!? It sounds like a place haha

burgatroyd · 20/01/2015 09:13

Rohanna?

Guin1 · 20/01/2015 08:24

I wouldn't use Poppy or Hannah with your surname. If you like the 'short e' sound in Rowena, have you considered Cornish names like Lowenna, Morwenna, Wenna or Gwenna which generally do use a double n?

carbolicsoaprocked · 19/01/2015 22:20

You've mentioned quite a few of our top names so I'll just suggest some we're thinking about just now :)

Maya (pronounced My-a, as in Angelou), Serena, Rose, Gabriella, Lara, Rebecca. I used to have a teacher called Merryl, which I always loved, but perhaps too close to Merlin for your wizardy connection?

As DH doesn't like any bloody name I suggest... Here's the contents of my girls name list...
Darcy
Rosalie
Erica/Erika
Morgan
Marlee
Aria/arianna
Edie
Adaline/Adeline
Blaise
Blythe
Penny
Mila
Leela
Leah

If this baby is a girl, there's a strong possibility she will end up registered as Baby Girl...

babyinapril · 19/01/2015 20:56

I'm not keen on Laura - just so many of them. I like Merryn out of the above names and April.

We are fussy I know!
