What is your name and do you recommend it?

My name is Anneka (Ah nicka). It is unique and I like it but my brother quite quickly caught on calling me all sorts of knicker related jokes.

My surname is unusual too :)

i'm a bit younger than most with my name so i dont come across any my age which may be why i like it. how old are you led?

Holly here - I love it!

I was going to be a Sarah which I think is lovely, but there are fewer Hollys my age so I'm glad I was given my name instead. I'd use it myself if it wasn't my name!

Drives me nuts. I'm called everything under the sun except Rosarie. I wouldn't recommend it.

Clueing same name and same age! I like it though and don't think its babyish at all. It works well for all ages. Nobody ever called me loo seat though so that may have changed things.

I know a baby Lucy, a mid 20's one and a great aunt and it all works. My mum was originally going to name me Kelly but a friend used it first, I'm ok with that.

Jennifer here. I just feel it's a bit dull and of it's time' (70s/80s), can't enter a room without meeting another one! Love the sound of the long version and love its cornish routes, but no one, and I mean no one, will call you by the long version! It will always be Jenny or Jen! Which seems a bit of a shame for me...so I guess, no, I don't recommend, but regretfully!

I'm mid 30's and I've always disliked my name - Lucy - it's quite babyish and I got called loo-seat at school :(

I remember wanting a name necklace when I was about 12 and being really jealous of an 'Elizabeth' because her long name looked better than my short and stumpy one.

My dad wanted me to be called Rain though so I suppose I got the better name!

Mine's Kate and I love it Grin I definitely would have considered it if I hadn't been named it Smile
The only downside is that Kates in American films tend to be stuck up best friends or older 'villains'Hmm

Hannah. I love it - not sure why, it just fits. My mum wanted to call me Amy but Dad wouldn't agree. Like Amy but much prefer Hannah Smile

Stephanie. It's OK and my friends, family and children's schoolfriends call me Stephy. Colleagues, less close friends and others call me Steph. It's OK, I probably wouldn't choose it for a baby now. Apparently I was supposed to be called Alice but the midwife who delivered me didn't like it so told my Mum to go for her second option!

Mine is Leanda (Lee-an-da) and I love it, get at least 2 comments a week saying what an unusual and nice/pretty name it is. It means lioness in Greek and is the female form of Leander
