Arf at Woodland.
I'd like to throw Timberland into the mix as the 'proper' name. Think about it, no shortage of personalise clothing.

Finlay is ace.

DS1 has a friend called Woody and there's another one a couple of years below in their school.

My friend has a William and a Richard. She obsessed with penis names. I expect number three to be called Woody.

The first thing that came into my mind was how unfortunate if he got random erections as most boys do Grin

But dirty minds aside, I do like it but wouldn't call one of mine that. His pubescent years would be hell.

Love love love it. I have a friend with 3 dc with some ...unusual... Names! She gave them a "normal" name as a first name (i.e. Sam, Ben etc) and the actual name as a middle name but they've only ever been known By their middle name. She argued that they can change to 1st name when they're grown up if they feel silly!!

I love woody- I say go for it- this friend, although her dc have names that would never have initially appealed to me, the 3 of them totally suit their names. I think you grow into what ever name you're guven and make it your own! Best of luck with your baby whatever you call him!

For purely personal reasons.
My maiden name was Wood.
"oy woody wots yer head made of-wood !"
kick kick batter.
Woodhead was a coommen surname in our area. They got the same.

Findlay is better than Woody.

but just to add my son was known as Moose for many many years, it's not his name, it's nothing like his name - he just had a jumper with a Moose on it as a baby and it stuck.

Not absolutely loving it but not hating it either.

We're also thinking of Finlay. I reckon that would be a much better option than Woody.

Please give him a proper name and then shorten it to woody. It may not work/he may not like it as an adult.

Blue I completely agree about the proper name.

Not sure about Woodland. Makes me think of those WOODLAND FOR SALE signs I see bloody everywhere (says she asking for opinions on Woody Grin )

I rather like Woodland as a first name. Call him Woody for short.

I know an Edward known as Woody, I like it. (I also know Edwards known as Ed, Eddie and Ned - lots of options if he grows up not to like Woody or Edward!)
