What is a little girl called Nina like?

My daughters nickname is Nina (real name Serena)

I think most of the posters before me have described her or met her lol. She is also very strong willed, headstrong and a bit fiery.

I know 2, both lovely people but pronounce it very differently.
Nina (Neena) is of german heritage and a very happy person
Nina (N-eye-na) is one of the most generous, thoughtful people I know.

Pretty Ballerina! (i.e. the Abba song!). I do know a grown up Nina (late 30's) who is absolutely lovely. I think it's a great name.

I'm not wild about Nina but it has the advantage of being very international (if that matters to you).

Ps no it doesn't matter at all. No one is going to say to her 'what, you can't be called Nina, Nina's are small!'

If your DD is tall then people she knows will come to associate the name 'Nina' with tall people Smile

Pretty positive images so far.

I'm a bit worried by the associations with being small though. I'm nearly 6ft so my daughter is likely to be tall too. Do people think that matters?

BTW, Columbus's ship was the Niña, with a tilde over the second n. So pronounced neen-ya.

Firstly, strong, independant...my friend Nina left home at fifteen, she's still not returned to England. I know she studied at an American College/University and works as a nurse now but not in America (the last time I spoke to her age had left Washington for the Virgin Islands.

I was considering nina and when I suggested it to dh he said no straight away. When I asked why ge said 'it was the name of one of Christopher columbus's ships'. Apparently that was sufficient to close the discussion.
I was left going wTF???? ConfusedGrin

Very petite and very beautiful. Sharp witted but funny with it, clever and kind.

I only know one Nina, she is 87 but she is all of the above.
