Wilberforce, Percy, Mungo...

If it weren't for DH DS2 (and DS1 for that matter) would be called something like this, my absolute favourites list goes:
Wilberforce
Percy
Mungo
Digby
Django
Otto
There are numerous reasons that i can't use any of these though, so what DO i call him? 5 weeks (hopefully) left to decide. Please help, I'm going around in circles.
Obviously I know there'll be loads of people who loath the above list and think i'm a crackpot but I'm not taking the and i know there must be something out there as lovely (to me) as these are but that can be used in contemporary society.

Wilbur or Wilfred? Similar to Wilberforce but slightly more conventional.

I think it's their sounds/shapes/rarity/playfulness that appeals.
Flora - thanks, i'm a big fan of that blog - the amount of times i've gone back to the 'funky clunky' and the 'gothic victoriana' lists over and again.
not scottish, just love mungo but DH will not hear of it.
DH is quite traditional so we have to find a middle ground

Could you use one of your favourites as a second name, perhaps?

To be honest, I rather like Mungo - and if you are a Scot living in Scotland, I think it would be fine, if a bit rare Likewise Otto in Germany.

Your names are a very mixed bunch - are you choosing them because you like ths sound or because of meaning/associations?

If the latter, then - in the order of your list:

hero= Hector, Horatio
chivalric legend = Orlando (or Roland, the same name)
Celtic saint = Fergus
17th cent religious/cookery writer= Kenelm en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenelm_Digby
Jazz= Gil/Gilbert
Gothic/Germanic warrior hero = Alaric, Manfred

More seriously, have a look at this for some suggestions www.britishbabynames.com/blog/historical-name-commentary/ and, if you have the time www.britishbabynames.com/blog/historic-names/ 'Unusual' names have always been controversial, and people in the past used just as wide and surprising a range of names as we do today.
