I think Dora is a million times nicer than Norah.
Isabel is very very common.

I told my DM about 35 years ago that I liked the name Nora. She looked at me as if I just arrived from Mars and said it was a ghastly name, there were girls in her class at school called that (along with ones called Ina, Peggy, Sylvia, Monica etc: all born mid-1920s).

But I still like the name Nora. Makes a nice change from Isabel, of which there are 1000s, though it's a lovely name as well.

Don't like Norah. Makes me think of Nora Batty (I know that dates me) and I don't like the sound of it. I do like Isabel, although I'm biased with it being DD's name. It's not that common where we are (not UK) so we don't get the whole ten a penny thing with it here. I like that Isabel has lots of nice short forms: Isa, Izzie, Bella

Isabel/la's (plus variant spellings like Isobel and Isabelle) are ten a penny, so I would opt for Norah purely to avoid being one of three in a class.

Really don't love Norah as a stand alone name but Isabel is v popular. Would you consider Eleanor as the full name and Norah as a nn?

There was a character on HIMYM called Nora, played by a beautiful, beautiful actress. Fell in love with the name there.

Isabel is so popular that I've turned off the name but understand its popularity.

I really dislike Nora and think its a plain and old fashioned. There is one in my family (about 16 years old) and I still think its an awful name.

Both are beautiful names. I'd drop the h too on Norah although I don't know why particularly - Seems to make it a bit more modern but not sure if that's a good enough reason.

Isabel is a beautiful name, the fact there are lots of them doesn't make it less beautiful, simply overused.

I had a good friend, Nora, lovely name and much less used.
